not sure bout this, it has an eve feel to it. on the other hand just cause some thing is in eve is no reason to not have it in vo if it would add to the game. i guess as long as using bots to mine didnt give the player xp it wouldnt be so bad.
I have not played EVE. Hmm, mining XP - did not consider that. My perspective as on who hates mining, but would like access to the Moth Heavy Miner without spending the required 25 hours of mining, I would propose a compromise:
Mining bots are not available until mining 4, at which point they do gather mining XP at 10% of the normal rate. Thus a player will have to do some mining, but can then move on to be a mining manager. I would guess that it would take three days for an Orun to collect 10,000 cu of ore. At a 10% credit towards Basic Miner II, that would requrie 30 days of successful Orun mining. Probably very hard to accomplish in valuable Gray ore bodies. Possible in nation space, with much lower profits.

You would apparently not "like access" all that much. No 3 port moth for you, sleazebag.

You should be able to buy one (and only one) heavy miner moth, only each time ye pass a mining badge.
Then ye will prove ye really deserve it or ye are just enough crazy...

mine well : )

This could be one of those "things for higher levels" type things, say mining level 10 to buy one and you can buy one or two for every level after ten?
I think so ryan. It should start much lower, like 4 or 5. The mining bots are designed to appeal to pilots who will never personally mine thousands of CU, but will enjoy managing the bots, protecting them from pirates, ect.
These bots are not a free pass for easy mining. They are a means to allow players to risk their wealth for gain. Vulnerable as collectors are, then they are a means to increase interaction between players. Currently in an engagement between a miner and a pirate, the unarmed miner can only run - not much of a fun interaction. With mining bots, the owner would likely be armed, and the fight would be much more interesting. Also, the bots are worth about 2.5 million credits each, and can be "hacked" and stolen by the pirats, so they have something valuable to gain also.
