Automated defense system

Alloh, while I'm sure your heart is in the right place, you really need to get some experience playing this game before you start cluttering the suggestions forum with nonsensical posts that have no bearing on the game Vendetta Online. What you're saying might be valid in Freelancer or X3 or some other space game, but not this one.

Turrets currently exist in-game as a useless and largely unused mechanic. Even a single pilot in a vulture provides considerably more effective protection for a behemoth than 3 pilots manning the turrets, and a behemoth with a full compliment of gunners doesn't even stand a chance against a single pilot in a real combat ship for pvp combat.

If there were some sort of automatic firing computer for turrets, they would become worthwhile. Needless to say, these automatic firing computers should be a) heavy and b) expensive, but those points have already been mentioned.

Chaosis, no, I dont like bots shooting from players ships. This game is MMORPG, multi-player, aimed at players, not at bots. Hence, I consider that it should aim towards inter-player interactions, grouping pplz, not adding auto-(defense,pilot,trade,...)

Ladron, the point WAS that. But it seems that turrets are changing. VO is changing, as the universe.

Turrets are for defense, but depends on what are attacking. That is the discussion, what use turrets for, what scenario are they suited, how can it be improved.

So far, new Gauss turret without auto-aim is useless against good pirates, average against noobies, and good against collector bots.

Have you tried with turrets? I did...

Alloh, it seems to me that you agree with all of my points, and yet do not speak English well enough to communicate this fact (or even realize it). Surely you can see how flooding the boards with incoherent, unreadable posts is counterproductive, especially since you lack a sufficient understanding of the VO mechanics to know what works and what doesn't.

You are saturated of this media. You no longer can have NEW ideas, since you don't have outside point-of-view.

VO is evolving and you want it as it was. I've been here over a month now and can see it. And instead of discussing NEW ideas, YOU are SPAMMIMG foruns attacking whoever new appears, even more if this newcomer think different of you, with aggresive post unrelated to topic.

Fortunelly, VO is much bigger than ladrons and lecters. You are the ion storm on foruns...

Hate to break all your bubbles but the guass turrets are fine for fending off a pirate

Been proven last week by a group of us.

Now, to counter my own point, multiple pirates could get through no problem I'm sure but a single pirate chasing a moth on turbo cant get close enough without getting very crispy so the defense works just no one else feels like doing it.

Also in our experiment we did die eventually a few systems down the road because the pilot decided he wanted to try and fight which even with turrets is very stupid in a moth!!

Care to conduct a trial/bet of that statement, CS? If you manage to take a standard moth with gauss turrets starting 1500m from my energy hog II in Latos O12 to Odia M14, I'll pay you 2 million credits.

When I dodge your gauss shots and megaposi your moth to death, though, you've gotta do the truffle shuffle.

Also, Alloh is cute. Retarded, loud, and entirely clueless about VO, English, or life in general--but cute.

That's interesting to read about CrazySpence. It is the kind of information needed. I'll be honest and say I am quite surprised you and your gunners could fend off a Pirate, so I have been underating the turrets considerably.

Though as you found out, dogfighting is still not an option, and rightly so. That balance between defence and the offence of a Pirate & Trader is critical for the fun/skill of both.

With an average of 40+ players online lately, finding a continual supply of 2 - 3 gunners is asking a lot presently.

Anything else come to light from your escapades CrazySpence? :)
