Repair-gun blocker

I haven't really fleshed out a complete idea here... that's where you guys come in (that is, if you feel it'd be useful).

In many of the recent furballs I've seen heavy use of the repair gun. When used properly, the rep-gun can seriously change the outcome of a furball. Currently, there are two ways to respond to an opposing team that uses a rep-man. 1) Shoot the repair ship, and keep shooting at it when he respawns. 2) Get your own repair ship.

I think it would be interesting to explore the possibility of a 3rd option: a ship-mod (probably small-port), which can block repairs from working within a certain meter radius (say, 100m, 200m, etc?) of the ship.

I think it would be interesting to have more support-ship roles, especially in light of a more recent trend of large group battles*. We will have AWACS ships/mods at some point in the near future, we already have repair ships, why not add ship-roles that counter the support-ship roles already in place? I think doing so would make group-combat all the more interesting.

So, there are two questions here:
1) Does such a device add value to gameplay?
2) If it does, what do you think are reasonable specs for such a device?

* Yes, I know there used to be furballs all the time in the past (I was there when this was the case). Point is, they've started up again, and that got me thinking.

No passive area effect weapons that cancel out the effect of a skill based direct fire "weapon."

Terrible idea. Shoot the repairer or get your own.

Next we're going to need a repair gun blocker jammer.

We already have a repair module cancellation device. it is called a neutron blaster. shoot the target faster than it can be repaired and the repairs will be nullified.

Are we done here?

Seems we are. Done, that is.

Though I'll say that Lecter's "No passive area effect weapons that cancel out the effect of a skill based direct fire "weapon."" is somewhat off the mark, as I wouldn't imagine the mod to be "passive", as much as you'd have to be flying decently close (hadn't figured the exact distance) to the enemy in order to counter the effect. Granted, it is more passive than shooting a rep at something, and that in itself can be considered a disqualifying "feature".

Something akin to an energy vampire would make it harder to rep, as well as boost and fire energy weapons.
