Make the Mentor L3 20 Good Ratings.

Nov 06, 2009 Kierky link
5 ratings, L1 mentor
12 ratings, L2 mentor
20 ratings L3 mentor

End. 40 is extremely ludicrous. And don't quote me links to other pages, I know this has been suggested before, just reinforcing my point. Feel free to bump mercilessly.

Maybe 25 ratings for L3? But yes, 40 is somewhat ludicrous now that the mentor system is no longer borked. It's nice to have more attainable goals... then more people will try to reach them.

I vote aye.

I agree but there should be Mentor L4 for 40 ratings then. Otherwise it will be very unfair for these with 40+ ratings. If it is ludicrous 40 ratings for L3 it is even more ludicrous 40 ratings for nothing. So do not waste that 20+ more ratings people with L3 have now.

What to give for L4? Access to newbie sectors as it was discussed? Anything else ...

Next, previously mentioned, idea is sharing this badge between chars. I see this idea even more important.

Shared access to newbie sectors is a non starter....

Why is that a non-starter?

Even I won't go through the effort to get 40 mentor points just to grief one noob before getting blasted by the instakill turrets and, no doubt, being barred from reentry into the sector.

Inc, I think the fear with shared access to newbie sectors is... (as ridiculous as this idea is)... that griefers will take the time to mentor 40 newblets and then massacre the newbie sectors. You know, because greifers are patient and goal driven.

Shared access to newbie sectors, is actually a great idea. Any one who mentors 40+ newblets really enjoys helping people out and getting medals for it. There for, access to newbie sectors, at least for their nation or nations they have good standing in would allow them to pursue something they enjoy... badges and helping newbs.

Still... I maintain that all any one has to do is watch 100 for a while and they will see that the whole mentor system is irrelevant. Nearly every time I log in there are newbs with questions, and every time they ask... it's like a race to see who answers first. Lets face it... VO's community is great, I've even seen pirates and "griefers" offering up help, with no incentive for reward.

Yeah, I don't think there's a big risk of exploitation / griefing, if the access is revoked upon killing a newbie. Or possibly even damaging one.

I mentioned we planned on doing exactly this, some months ago when we changed secured the training sectors. Just hasn't been a priority.

Yes... but more personal attention is always good (as few newbies know the "best" questions to ask). I tend to broadcast "any newbies want a mentor?" or the like on 100 when I log in, and last night the person who responded already had 3/3/3, so they were ineligible. I "mentored" them anyways... but I think the mentor system is a considered irrelevant is because those who want to use it cant. Of course, there's a fix going in for that, so I'll be a happy camper soon :).

EDIT: seems soon is now. I missed the update :D.
