Serco ships shouldn't attack friendly UIT!
I've observed this with the Serco, but it probably also happens with the Itani. Also, I'm not sure whether this is a "bug" or a "suggestion", so I'm putting it here...
Some Serco ships will register as kos and attack me, even though I'm in the Serco military. This makes no sense whatsoever.
Example:
I'm UIT. I join the Serco military. I am in Serco space, fighting a skirmish in Deneb. I get fragged, and spawn back at the wormhole to Deneb. I launch from the station, and a Serco heavy assault cruiser starts firing at me! Apparently, this guy is kos for Itani AND UIT.
So, why is a nation I've fought and died for (MMORPG logic ftw) attacking me? You'd think the Serco would be a little more grateful; I doubt they'd have retaken deneb p3 without me!

Nemesis, and all other Serco HAC's are set with UIT and Itani KOS and Serco POS. Just avoid the dern thing and everything will be cool.
Are you sure? This sounds more like a bug to me. I used to have an Itani char that loved nothing better than to ride the Nemesis on its journeys through Serco space. Also, I've never experienced the issue described here on any char, new or old.
This sounds more like one of us might have been manning the turrets that blew him away >.>

lmfao!
Well, I'm sure it depends on your standing with Serco. If your at least Admired, you most likely will not have a problem.
I have noticed that if you accidentally bump a ship or the docking port on a capitol ship that ship will show as hostile on your radar. It then stands to reason that you would appear as hostile to them as well.
For what it's worth, the cited example was the first time I saw Nemesis, and it was already hostile. I'd never had a chance to bump into it, and no one had fired on me from it, PC or AI.
I am still neutral with Serco, but it still seems unrealistic and annoying that a ship would fire on a member of its own military.
And avoiding it is tedious when it has spawned right outside my home station! I mean, I was able to fly past it pretty easily, but that's not the point; the fact that it was kos for UIT (and not smart enough to make an exception for military members) seems odd to me.

Tell that to the thousands upon thousands of troops killed by "friendly fire" every year!

Your UIT. Your not Serco. Your not part of our millitary, your a hired merc.
@Chaosis: Doesn't change my point; killing your own mercenaries makes it far less likely that you'll be able to hire more!
@BobTheBarge: lol. "Yes sir, I could see that he was carrying our flag. And looked exactly like the Lieutenant. But in my defense, he could have been a very believable imposter!"

The Nemesis can sense fear. The best thing is to fly by it confidently. If you so much as make a hesitating move around the thing...
Actually, if he took the mission "Join the Serco military", than he is in the Serco military and not a mercenary... unless there has been the recent introduction of a new mission... "Don't join the military but fight for us anyways as a mercenary".
Well then, why doesn't the Itani get a cappie patrolling our nations' space?
Because Serco are cooler.
because having space fields of divinia spice is expensive to maintain!
yeah, but they should have a profit margin. I call shenanigans on the Itani.
The spice must flow!
So, I've been studying the way the radar flags things (non)hostile, and I think I've just made a big noob mistake. It seems that things are only ever flagged hostile if:
1. They are KoS for your faction
2. They have recently attacked you
In addition, the hostile flag doesn't *necessarily* have any bearing on whether or not they will attack you, just whether either of these criteria is met.
So, the Nemesis is KoS UIT, but it doesn't ever attack me. I expect those attacks did indeed come from players manning the turrets (thanks!)
Likewise, Itani that I fight in Deneb are never flagged hostile until they hit me, even if I'm in the process of destroying them or they are avidly firing at me. At least, I think this is true. And my Serco allies definitely get flagged hostile when I get hit with friendly fire.
Maybe the a better feature request would be to have 3 target flags: friendly (green), non-hostile (yellow), and hostile (red). Friendly targets would be any targets that are known allies: other PC or NPC members of a skirmish on your side, cap ships for a nation whose military you are in, etc.
Or maybe that would be too much effort, and would be bound to still confuse *someone* since a friendly capship could still have the occasional griefer manning a turret. Anyway, I'm going to flag this one "never mind". (edit: I don't seem to be able to change the subject of this thread... but it is "resolved")

Not to worry: the rest of the world flagged this as "never mind" pretty much as soon as you posted it.
