Ship to Ship Pilot transfer.
Ship2Ship Dock
Mass: 10k
Port type: large and small
Both ships must have one, be within 100m, target each other, and both pull the activating trigger. Both power cells will be drained. Both pilots will trade ships.
There may be limitations on where you can buy or mount, or what stations will even allow you to dock with one attached.
There may be technical requirements that force both pilots to log out during the exchange, force all cargo to be jettisoned during the exchange, or what ever else the devs think will ease the implementation.

This does what? Allows you to Trade ships with another player?
aye
Would be pretty sweet for black market sales.
I'd pay big for proms.
Despite the splash damage i'm sure I can still fly straight into a cent rockets ramming and still come out of it alive.

While I really want to be able to trade ships like items, this sounds overly complicated. Haven't the devs already stated that you will be able to trade ships at some point anyway? The mechanics for ships as widgets is already in place, as made evident by the random voys carrying ships as cargo (or were, not sure if that's still happening). These ships can be picked up, and then you can use them once you deliver them to a station.
This sounds complicated and unnecessary.

Yeah seems to me that you could simply make a command like /giveship [playername] [shipID] and as long as the other player is docked it lands in their inventory.
Lets stick to consignment on this. It makes more sense.
Otherwise, make all items transferable from one inventory to another with what ever restrictions are deemed necessary. I see no reason why ships should be non transferable.

I am all for consignment. But some things should be done player to player.
Take tumblemonster's idea for example: it skips any concerns about automation or npc interaction. it is strait player to player. I could buy into such an idea.
I want consignment, which represents the above board legitimate trading and dealing, and direct player to player transfers, where there are fewer restrictions.
The details are but details.
