Its simple, we don't dock them. Instead we leave them outside the station and dock with a normal ship. The cappie stays in the NFZ so it is theoretically safe and the stations don't need to undergo any changes.
right, so there is 50 cappies hanging outside a station with no where for you to fly, you bump into it and the strike force is all over you. sounds fun. oh, and you also couldnt leave it outside corvus stations. oh, and you would have to have a packaged ship or something on board to fly. oh, and when you bought it, would it just appear outside? think just a little bit harder before you click post.
Geez, talk about being on the button.
This idea is one of the ones talked about since the beginning. There are rough edges to pretty much all the ideas. In this case, the cappy could disappear, or it could sort of go dormant like being part of the station. Docking rules can be amended. An endless supply of free buses could be had for transport. A newly built capship could appear, or it could fly in from someplace. There's all sorts of options.

There is an easy way to handle the problems mentioned by Armonia:
Limit the number of capital ships that can dock with a station simultaneously. The number of available moorings is dictated by the station's size. Perhaps it even has an outlying 'pier', so to speak, outside the NFZ, to accommodate more ships in times of need (could be useful for dynamic warfare).

yeah... thats exactly what would happen, given that the average number of people on VO is 20 to 30. Well Armonia, it looks as though everything you brought up has been covered... think just a little bit harder before you click post.

Hah, burn.
He has a point though, ryan. Given the actual duration of solutions which are sometimes only meant to be temporary, something to curb the number would not be all too wrong (also creates a limited supply).

so what you are saying is that players are only allowed one capship then, right?
also, 20 - 30 players on at one time, but according to inc http://vendetta-online.com/x/msgboard/3/7873?page=3 the subscriber count is well over 100.
also, when looking at the future of VO, only a child would assume the player count will stay as it is. a grown up would understand when making preparations for the future, it should include a higher player count.
The devs made new stations for training sectors, yes? if i am wrong let me know. if they could put one more station in every system and build it much, much larger, these stations could be capship stations, stocked with capship weapons and items.

No, not one in every system. This has already been discussed actually. Each station that is labeled as a "Capitol" station should be enlarged and have the facilities necessary to build, repair, and dry-dock cappies. Everywhere else just doesn't have the necessary resources and equipment, so the best you could do at a non-capitol station is fly into the NFZ and hope nobody blows up your cappie while you're in-station making transactions in a smaller ship.
Also, keep in mind that capships will almost definitely not be owned by individuals. They will probably be owned by guilds, and there might even be a limit on the number a guild can own at a time.
If the entire crew leaves a capship while it is in space, it just floats there until somebody gets back in, even if the crew logs out. The only way to make it not be a sitting duck is to dock it at Odia M-14, Dau L-10, etc.

That would make little sense, if the goal is more players, then I doubt the devs would do something to alienate non guilded players. At any rate, I agree with the capitol stations being enlarged... (and all UIT stations).

Why don't we just make bigger stations that have "capital docking support" that are scattered around a bit, perhaps only one per system at the most. Just make a big "docking clamp" thing that you just have to get "close" to to dock.
I mean some of the stations in other games are seriously GIGANTIC, how would VO react to having space stations that are 10x bigger than they are now? Would the game be unplayable in those sectors?

I think that's why they're experimenting with the fog, so they can have things like uber-massive stations that don't make the game unplayable in those sectors for all but the best hardware.
Ah, somebody who realizes that the devs do actually think ahead about these things.
Indeed; I'm sure there have been countless hours of late-night meetings put in for just this topic already. Hell, they probably already dream in 32-bit color with as much time as they put into this game :-p

You're aware that humans can't even see in 32 bit color, right?

You poor bastard.
You poor bastard.
You mistakenly assume that I am human. However, you are, and thus can't.
Ah, so you are a muskrat? I wondered.
It would be rather embarrassing to you if I were a muskrat, considering the frequency with which I kick your ass...
Hmm, no, I don't think a muskrat could reach my ass actually...
Keep in mind also that it is a xithricite-tipped boot doing the kicking. Do muskrats wear boots?
