**Any updates will be posted and end of thread, please look there**

Yes, I made a new posting, adding to the previous wouldn't of really worked. Am I able to delete old posts?

Here is a quick couple renders of a ship. Basic modeling, basic texturing. This is roughly 5 hours of work so far.

Hope you enjoy and if you like what you see please post:

1) Still need to add a fine detail texture layer.
2) Add the "color map" to allow the in game engine to add the color options to the ship.

That is REALLY good! Hmmm... maybe some thing to replace the Ragnarok, which is currently the ugliest ship ingame.

And how closely does this work hew to http://vendetta-online.com/x/msgboard/3/21226#262881 ?

I like it, very stealthy.

She'll need a good name, even if she's a replacement vessel, I dont think she deserves to inherit "Ragnorok"

In reply to:

Ryan Reign & Pyroman_Ace --> Thank you, still has some work to be done, but I feel it's up to or will be up to the quality that you guys and the dev's expect.

Roguelazer --> The ship has been modeled and textured with those guidelines in mind.

The info for the ship is as follow:

Polygon Count: 1132

Texture: 2048 X 2048 (Above the required amount, and can be shrunk down to fit lower) This allows the maximum backwards compatibility for any media application.

As mentioned, this is NOT a finished model. I still have to apply the fine details. So the final image will be much more detailed. This will not affect poly count, nor textures. It will simply be added to the textures that exist.

** For any of you 3D guys, I will link the texture and bump map to show what has been done and how it was done. **

its a good looking ship but that fin coming out of the bottom makes it flare bait
Sep 06, 2009 Xico link
If this is the general view about the fin, I will reduce the size of it tomorrow. Remember tho, the fin does NOT have to be included in the colision mesh. This is typically what is done in other space games.

Maybe a Dev will chime in .

Thanks,
Xico

Will you please stop spamming up new threads?

after thinking about it i think that ship would be a good replacement for the centaur and if you kept that fin in the collision mesh it would even out its currently way to thin profile
Sep 06, 2009 Dr. Lecter link
Enough with the self-important spam, asswipe.

the fin does NOT have to be included in the colision mesh

Right, that's a brilliant idea. Put a huge target out there so people aim at it... and then, magically make it *NOT* part of the target structure! Damn, that's gonna be a really, really funny joke!

I concur with peytros' assessment. The under-body fin is an excellent target for rockets.

And to a degree, I concur with Lecter, although, being less of a troll about it, it would be rather poorly received to have part of the ship out of the collision matrix. I think you're idea of decreasing it's size, or even eliminating it, is the best possibility.

Quick question tho, as I'm new to the game, but wouldn't the fin only be a "bad" thing, if the ship was perpendicular to the rocket? Which shouldn't happen if your flying correctly? It's no different than having fins running upwards like half the ships have. They don't seem to cause problems unless your sideways to the rocket.

Correct me if I'm wrong.

I'm kind of surprised they let Dr. Lecter on the forums. Kind of ironic he bashes my spam, yet adds more than I do :)

Thanks,
Xico

You're wrong--consider yourself corrected.

Basically, the problem is that the prox on flares means all fins are a problem regardless of orientation--and this one, unlike those on "half the ships," sticks out pretty far down. Perpendicularly, it's like the broad side of a barn, but even head on it's a larger flare target than it appears to you.

And you'll note that I confine my "spam" to telling you to condense your masturbatory bullshit into a single thread in an appropriate forum--rather different than your spam.

First bit of useful info from yea Dr. Lector, looks like your learning. Sometimes working with someone trying to help, is a bit smarter idea. Then again, a forum wouldn't be a forum without the bridge humpers.

Also, I believe a few of you are under the "impression" that this fin is huge, I've done a few quick renders to show the actual size. If it's "to big" I'll go resize/remove it.

I like the ship, pretty nice texturing.

That fin looks to add 25-35% to the ship's profile. That's a big deal in VO combat, nevermind those other games. I would be pissed if it was visible but not part of the collision mesh.

Furthermore, it would be really annoying when docking.
Sep 06, 2009 Xico link
So the consensus is remove the fin and/or trim it down?

Will work on that and adding a detailed paint job today.

Thanks for your input,
Xico

I would take it off entirely. If you scraped that thing on the way into the dock, there's a good chance you'd bounce around and explode. Get yourself a Vulture, cruise into a dock at speed and clip a wingtip on the way in. You'll see the effect I mean.

I like this model, I actually like the fin too. The thing needs some serious smoothing.
Sep 06, 2009 Xico link
Yea, I can deff add smoothing groups, but seeing how far I can push textures before needing to.

Fin has been adjusted, and working on a bit more details. Will upload shortly.
