Ion storms and heated astroids.

I think ionstorms should have an effect in the systems in which they are present. It could be that mining in a storm results in no heat, lower heat etc. Or it could be that astroids cool down faster in an ion storm.

Thats if you can tolerate a reason for us to want ion storms. To have us hate them they could stop them from cooling down.

I'ld prefer the first one and talked about it in game, but I think one way or another it should effect the astroids in some manner.

I believe ion storms are on the way out... or at least becoming rare. However, if the ion storms are staying... it would be cool to have one of those ideas put in. Maybe so the never heating isnt abused, if a person stays in an ion storm for more than x amount of minutes the storm damages the ship?

ryan: Ion storms are supposed to be dangerous, however this is not by the storm itself, but that which lies within. The bots would have a good go at you even if you were mining. Also the range restriction makes it very hard to find a good roid, even if you do have the storm extender. I am in favor, however of the lower heat, maybe roids cool faster, or 1/2 of the heat emitted by mining beams. This would, or might bring an incentive to go and mine in an ion stom, bearing in mind that you could be destroyed at any second, or even after a storm, people would flock there because the roids have been cooled by the storm, which would bring pirates.

Generally, I do like the idea of roids being affected by the storm and its duration. Longer storm = better benefits? Mining during the storm solws down the mining heat? The possibilities are almost endless, and I would like to see something done in this area.
