I noticed that every so often you guys run promos to bring in new ppl. My opinion is - if you were to run a free month for vets around the same time as the promos it would do 2 things-

1. The vets would feel appreciated and they would want to keep playing.

2. The new players that have been coming in would see that VO rewards its vets to keep the community happy as a whole, and the new players would keep playing to get their 'free month'.

Some of you are probably thinking i just want a free month, HOWEVER, i think this should only happen to vets who have been signed on for 2+ years, i have not hit my 2 year mark yet, still quite a few months away.

This might be a good idea if it was maybe two weeks instead of a month, but the developers also need to advertise in the proper places (i.e. a site with an interest in space games, not a site with an interest in MMOs). :p

actually good idea, very few businesses give perks to there loyal customers, newbies will come and possibly stay we have been here for a ages give us the perks not them :P

I don't want free time. I want them to continue development at the current pace or better without worrying about eating. They can appreciate me later if they are able to afford it.

I could see that with the purchase of increased package sizes maybe, but awarding veterans an extra month might be difficult in terms of logistics.

If you made it something like "Buy 12 Month Subscription" and you get 13 months, or something similar that might work, to encourage larger investment.

Although Guild already offers lower "bulk" pricing on bigger packages, so this may not be entirely the best thought on my part.

Maybe a free weekend - after Guild has set up a calender of cool events for the following month. Then the inactive vets who come back will see a plan for new activities which would encourage them to resubscribe.

I agree with Whistler... I mean, don't they already give us a free month at Christmas? maybe they could give us a free two weeks or something on our birthdays... but if it comes down to them losing money and content being lost or halted...I'll be happy to just pay.

Make it a free week for "Vets" to come back and try the game again, see if it has progressed far enough for them to re-sub.

Define "Vet" as someone who was a paying customer for at least X months, and who hasn't been subbed in Y months/years. They'd obviously have to log in with their old account for the week's promotion.

I mean, shit, we have NEW ICE now! Who in their right mind wouldn't start paying good money for VO again, after experiencing that sort of progress?!
