Mission Interrupts

Jul 14, 2009 Machinista link
Firstly, I’m a new subby to VO, so hello to all the regs from Otis Solis :)

My gaming time is often limited or interrupted, which results in me having to quit the game mid-mission. For some missions in particular (mining, and trading) having to start all over again is a pita!

Is it possible to make missions persist across sessions?

(I did search for topic, so apologies if it's already been covered and I've missed it)

Missions usually don't abort unless you run out of time to do them or choose to abort them yourself. They do persist across sessions. Just check your missions tab.

I think a lot of them either get bugged or disappear when you log out and in, moldy.

Well, that's a bug then, not a feature! :D

Actually, if it is a PCC mission, it may be written that way. It all depends on whether or not the mission writter added an event to term the mission upon log out. I would suspect that is true for non-PCC missions as well.

So, there seems to be some inconsistency with how missions are affected by logout.

Thanks for the feedback.

Not really a true inconsistency....

It's up to the mission writer. When I wrote my missions, I always did each mission with a failure on log out. I don't penalize for that, simply the missions did not "feel" like they should span multiple sessions. You start the mission and finish it, or start over.

If I was writting a huge mining misson, say "go mine 10,000 cu of Heliocene, I would allow multiple sessions.

I guess you could see that as inconsistent, but it's just up to the author...
