how is this any better then the regular craptor? to be effective the raptor needs a major overhaul like having a 3rd small port added.
Better mass, thrust, less cargo, better spin speed.
I don't think a 3rd small port will do anything nor should it have one due to the fact that it has a radar extender...
Currently a third port would not actually do much except drain the power faster. I think the best thing that could be done with the Raptor would be to move the weapons ports towards the outer edges of the "wings". Or perhaps if a variant is wanted... (same stats as the MKII)... with one large port located in the center, rather than two small ports or give it infiniboost.
I disagree, ryan.
A third port, aligned with the ship's axis, would make it more of a sniper's ship. Not that anyone in their right mind would choose one over a valk, but that would be its (although largely academic) use.

Tosh, thats precisely the idea. The Raptor does not handle well enough to be a robust combat ship. Lets face it... we all bought the Raptor when it became available to us because it looks so cool, only to find out it is not a very good ship.
In making it a sniper ship, it once again has a role in the verse. I know it already has a role the "all weather fighter" but more often than not it is still over looked in favor of the Valk, Hog II, Prom, Vulture hell... even the Rag and Atlas see more combat than the Raptor.

From point of beginning player... I bought Rap month or so ago. A was looking forward to have it. Only result I got was that there are faaar much better ships than Rap, despite the fact Rap looks so beautiful.
I support to improve Rap, including extending weapon slots. That would make sense, because Rap looks like flexible ship, something between strike vessel and fighter. How he can concur to Vulture or Hog in its' current weapon layout? With storm extender? It is simply not enough, as common experience shows.
3rd slot will make it more attractive, does not matter if slot is large or small (voting for large).
Currently, Raptor is under-designed and it deserves change to better. I would vote for 3-slot Raptor Mk.III (agree w/ peytros).

lol... welcome to universal KoS. Seriously though, its true the Raptor does need some thing to make it worth having. Even if its just moving the ports towards the wings tips, that way at least it would be a decent rocket/missile platform.

That is sadly a very common occurrence, we all bought the Raptor at one point and we were all let down.

Moving the ports more towards the wing tips will increase its moment of inertia, making it even more sluggish in turns.
well there has to be something that can be done to make it a ship that does more than collect dust.
wow, is that all you have to do for universal KoS?
I agree with Peytros (but will still shoot all Craptors to bits on principle)

Are you the guy who writes me all those emails about how you're a Nigerian so and so and you need my help to get $28 million out of your country safely?

Haha, burn.
Dr. Lecter: Yes, do believe me. But you already know replying to spammer is useless :)
The raptor could use a bit more spin torque anyway so moving the slots outward is really a problem if the spin gets an adjustment
Needs more... something, else it's a bigger and less nimble Vulture. Due to its length, it's going to have a high angular mass and require a LOT more spin torque to be able to turn as quickly. Of course, with the position of its engines, maybe it SHOULD have a huge amount of spin torque.
Strat and I have both posted before our idea that Raptors should do 240m/s with 62 drain or higher. I still think it's a good idea.

edited to crowd appeal
Changed the Spin Torque from 9.0Nm to 12 Nm
Changed the Top speed to 230m/s with 62/s drain

I'm not in favor of crossing the 225 m/s border. Spin torque increase seems fine.
I don't think it'd be wise to just make it another Valk Challenger That Ultimately Fails.
