They're meant to protect the CTC ship right? We then they should stay with it. Instead they see a Serco KOS in grey and they all fly off to attack in, then they wander the sector until someone destroys them. Meanwhile, the CTC cargo ship flies on unprotected.

They should only attack if the convoy is in danger.

Oh, I dunno, this seems like a bug that can stick around for a while...
