How 'bout making a new mining beam that you obtain from mining bot sectors in some ridiculous mining mission string (PCC newbs do your thing).

I would like a mining beam that has heat comparable to the HD beam, lower extraction rate, and bloody insane range!
like 500m would be sweet for mining in Prosus assault riddled sectors!!

this way, it would take a lot longer to get your hold full of the good stuffs, but you wouldn't have to hug the roid so close when there's 4 or 5 prosus/arklans spamming fire at you.

Make it a fairly difficult mining mission tree. like... go to this badass bot infested sector and bring us like 8000cu of blablabla. if it could run in the background, sorta like a badge/mission hybrid.. so once you take the mission, you are still able to do other missions, but you'll always have to go back to that one sector to get ore or that type, for that badge..

is that even possible?

I actually find surface skimming helps throw off the botties some.

Surface skimming and actually alternating between 2 different roids helps somewhat, as long as the roids are close.

try using an he beam instead.....hehe

more mining missions that might not be totally mind-numbing. :)

Naw.... you just need to get more comfortable with the roid of your choice. Its ok to get really close to roids now days. We wont think any less of you.

i'll mine 2K of pentric with prosus buzzing around in less than an hour by skimming. i know it works. what i'm saying is why not have a bunch of new mining missions that give a little more mining xp than +50, and have the ability to buy a new beam(with retarded range). could maybe mine a bot sector in a mining moth with it if you were tricky :)
