Honestly, being Serco should have some benefits, gift dah pohr fools a slaggin ship me lads, they been awaitin for a hoil nay.
Right, cause they have the worst nation specific ship of all nations.
Oh wait, you didn't say UIT, you said Serco who have the damn prom.

Obvious troll is obvious.
Well Serco's in desperate need of a chasing ship, I say lower the SVG's turbo energy/s.
I still think they should drop the drain on the SVG to 55. They need something relatively fast. Right now they have no good pursuit ship, which handicaps them extremely in group combat.

Only against Itani, who by their nature love to run away :)

the scp isnt even that much of a newb ship till you throw a agt and 2 sunnies on it
and that happens the second you get it?
That's what I'm talking about. Give em a fast spy ship. New design. Sleek, small, one small turret, and maneuverability to succeed the IBG in combat theoretically. Serco's are supposed to have a nice military, how does a military in space function without a decent scout ship?
I'm just seeing that Prom's, while good, aren't often used. Serco needs a more mainstream IBG class ship, that, (like ghost and shank both pointed out unknowingly the same exact thing) ... a good chaser.
It can even open up a new class of vehicles, the super-light, turbo-efficient, top-speed boasting, interceptor. The Corvus Superlight being an improvement to the already ridiculously light fighter Centurion IBG, needs some competition, but competition in a different form than of itself...
One Large port should do the trick. Here are it's specs:
Lets just call it the Serco Arrow for now...
Name Serco Arrow
Variant Mk1
Faction Serco
Level 11/11/11/-/-
Armor 3500
Cargo 3
Weapons 1L
Mass 2200
Length 12m
Thrust 160N
Max Speed 80m/s
Spin Torque 4.8Nm
Turbo Speed 250m/s
Turbo Energy 57/s
Well what do you think?

run the numbers. The IBG is a shaite chaser.
For chasing you now have corvus greyhound.
There will be no ships in VO faster then 225 m/s as far as devs are concerned.
Serco have mainstream counterpart to IBG its called Serco Vulture Guardian and it serves the exact same role as IBG.
Neither IBG not SVG are chasing ships, they both have high drain.
If you want more chasers I don't think anyone would mind drain cut on both models to 55.

Valk can fight, greyhound can't. Valk's in blue space, greyhound's in deep grey. Valk's banned from the DR for a reason.
Itani's already got a lot of chasing (most often running) power and the SVG used to be a very very very good chaser, so put the SVG's energy drain back to what it used to be! There's no need to come up with a brand new ship design (and I assure you that the IBG is fine how it is and does not need to be a chaser by any means. The circle jerk is not a sanctioned tactic of war and it shouldn't be so that a team's entire ship lineup should be able to keep up.) or give the Serco some ship like the greyhound that sucks at straight fighting but can run around in circles for 3 days. They don't want it to be infi-boost, just enough to catch a valk that turns tail mid-fight.

Which has nothing to do with its speed--the Hound blows it away in speed and acceleration. The Valk was banned because of its faction specific requirements, and the fact that it used to be one of the very fastest ships in the game. It was considered unfair for racers to have to be high standing with Itani to win races--however, since the Valks are no longer uber-fast, maybe they'll reverse the ban.

Quote from Dr. Lecter:
"the Hound blows it [the Valkyrie] away in speed and acceleration"
Bullshit.
The Valkyrie (IDF, as it is the best runner) has better acceleration, although combat loadouts can shift the balance. While the Greyhound would have the legs of an IDF because of the 50 e/s turbo energy drain, the distance traveled where this has any effect negates this advantage, as well. I even tested this when the Greyhound was newly released, in a drag race IDF vs Greyhound.
As for velocity, the Valkyrie and the Greyhound have equal turbo maximum velocity.
Don't spread misinformation, Lecter.

IDF Valk: 2900 Kg bare, 225 N thrust.
Greyhound: 5000 Kg bare, 250 N standard thrust, 350 N turbo thrust (unless the Devs forgot to add that, which would explain a lot; the VO Wiki doesn't reflect the 350 N of turbo thrust, though the original specs called for it--can we get confirmation one way or the other, Inc?).
If an IDF is out-accelerating a Hound, absent weapons, someone didn't implement the Hound as I designed it. In which case, you may well be right, Tosh. I haven't done the drag race trial, so I'm not sure. It should out accelerate a valk, however.

225/2900 = 0.077586207
350/5000 = 0.07
350/5000 = 0.07
Actually, it would be 250/2900=0.0862
I stand corrected on Hound v. Valk--clearly I should have suggested a lower mass >.<

I'm reasonably sure Valks have bifrucated turbo thrust - at least, some versions do. Turbo thrust ought to be listed in the ships stats so we don't have to guess.
Serco have big, armored ships that can't go too fast.
Itani have fast, agile ships that are lighter on armor.
UIT have crappy, generic ships that are the bottom of the barrel, after the Corps sell the best variants for their own profit.
The Corps have the widest array of options and, while not as good as Serco or Itani ships, are definitely a good poor man's alternative.
And Corvus has one of the best chasing ships in the game, which also has a large slot.

The issue is that I'm not sure the original balance scheme works out in large scale combat. I've spend a good deal of time in both now and I honestly believe that in group combat, big/slow/powerful < small/fast/accurate. For a more dramatic example, look at the ragnarok. Even bigger and more powerful than the prom, and it gets eaten alive in group combat. The obvious solution would to make the big/slow/powerful ships bigger and more powerful. The problem with that is the Prom is already superior in single combat. Improving it would tip the scales drastically. This is all the result of balancing ships in single combat without really having an adequate large scale combat situation to test them in. So what we need is some way to improve the Serco's ability in group combat without dramatically increasing their potential in single combat. Ideas?
