Sir, I see you are familiar with Rivers preferential killing style, I tip my hat to you.
has someone mentioned trade badges for profits in a single transaction?
well if no one has, you jut did!
Most of Surb's page-1 badges should be pretty easy, so those may be appearing shortly. We'll see.
Keep the ideas coming, I'll ticket anything I think is good (even if it doesn't appear immediately, it'll probably appear eventually). Also, keep the spam/flame/pointless-chatter to a minimum please.

Most? Well better than nothing but I would love to see ranks of Plutocrat/Entrepreneur where 10 billion profit is the goal... or the 1 billion Planet Cracker/Digger Savant ranks... eh, one can dream.
Just to give this post some meat... albeit lean and rancid.
Ribbons/Ranks based on distance traveled:
Stretching Your Space Legs - 10km
Speed Walker - 100km
Jogger - 1,000km
Hiker - 10,000km
Runner - 100,000km (Obligatory)
Sprinter - 1,000,000km
Endurance Runner - 10,000,000km
Olympic Runner - 100,000,000km
Marathoner - 1,000,000,000km

50k and 100k pvp kills are kinda uh insane ammount that i don't think anyone would get to
With the current number people playing the game at a single time? Yes, that is a very high and near unobtainable amount within a reasonable time frame, but what if that number becomes 100 fold?
This game is never going to have a larger playerbase than it does now. That is a moot point.
Marathoner - 1,000,000,000km
Both Yoda and I probably have this already.

Well, unless you have traveled a similar equivalent of the distance between the enter point at the Sol II->Betheshee wormhole sector from the opposite wormhole sector in Sol II, average of 10km, 100,000,000 times, I doubt it but possible.
Marathoner - 1,000,000,000km

Most members of ITAN probably have this several times over. peytros too, in all likelihood.

1,000,000,000 km...
lets see, assuming an average speed of 150 m/s, this would take:
211 years...
No, I don't think anyone has this one yet...

Even at 500 m/s, 1 billion km would take 63 years.
Unless the game mechanics change, it is safe to say that no one will ever achieve this.
Minimum time required at 220 m/s:
Runner - 100,000km = 5.3 days
Sprinter - 1,000,000km = 53 days
Endurance Runner - 10,000,000km = 1 year 5 months
Olympic Runner - 100,000,000km = 14 years 5 months
Marathoner - 1,000,000,000km = 144 years
These time frames basically make the last two badges nothing more than vapor badges. No one will ever get them. The third badge might seem attainable, but even it is possibly out of scope for even the most hardcore vendetta addict.
Assume an average speed of 160m/s, it would take about two years of constant travel to achieve 10,000,000km. If a player traveled for 1/3 of his time, 8 hours per day, 6 years later this badge would be achieved.

I know for a fact that I've left my old Rune valk on turbo lock for several days many, many times.
But looking at the math, obviously I'm not even an Endurance Runner. I'm probably over the Sprinter mark, though.

heh for the 100k pvp badge it will take over 10 years for someone to get
The 100,000 mark is assuming this game will actually get further off the ground and the enthusiastic remark by ladron is very narrow minded, but if you kill 100 players everyday for a little over 2.7 years you'll hit it. Hence the name of the badge, unless of course you want something more easy I guess, 25 players a day puts you a little over a year for the 10,000 mark.
As for the distance stuff, I doubt it would be considered anyway even if they cared to factor in distance across systems in warps and between systems.

Given that some players have been in game regularly for over 5 years having some very long term badges is a sensible enough thing. Remember that a lot of vets had already got many bot kills, much trading and a lot of mining before VO started keeping track of these.
As an example , I have 57 k hive kills, but accomplishments only shows 38 k of these leaving 12k to the Master hive hunter 3 badge. This sort of thing will always happen in a game which evolves, just enjoy the progress.
So, badges for all the major ores from xith to look forward to ?

*bump*
Sorry if this seems like necromancy, but I'm curious about further badge development because, unless my memory fails me, was there indication about the removal of license requirements and more emphasis on something measurable but less of a grind such as levels?

How would levels be any less of a grind than license levels.
