Don't they already have the option to "make more use of the EC's"? Wouldn't the objection be to spending time to create an artifical EC only zone, rather than denying anyone the ability to fly a particular ship type? Couldn't pey be read to have adopted my objection to such a zone--to which you still haven't responded--that it sets noobs up for severe frustration and disapointment?
Not that you've shown any concern for clarity or accuracy w/r/t facts or claims, of course.

yeah cause it creates pvp safe zones and takes away from the point of pvp buying better ships, never go broke just fly an ec ship in the special super safe ec only sectors. oh also waste of dev time.
anyways this is one of those arguements Utisz where you need to back up your side with more then "tell me why it shouldn't" cause you seem to be the only person in support of this.

OK, I'm convinced we have a new troll (more likely a repackaged old troll).
He's sorta fun, though, Whistler. Not very good, but sorta fun.
No no no! Stop discouraging him!
This is the only way I'll ever get my Bus PK badge! Implement it now!
Although I'd probably have to make like peytros to get newbs to come there.

"Is this love, that I'm feeling
Is this the love, that I've been dreaming off"
And thus one of the great mysteries of all time was solved. Now we know how trolls multiply. Next on the agenda of MUST FIND OUTS is: Where do all the frogs go in wintertime?
I want a bus with twin heavy slots and 120 cargo hold. Or even better, two heavy slots, one light and 140 hold.

Doesn't the first half of the OP belong in the RP forum?
No, it can just be linked to under the Index section "Flops that were eaten by an Orun collector"
For this one it'd probably be an EC-88, not an Orun Collector.
Reasons why I think this is a good idea.
1. “The EC class of ships are really very under appreciated in the VO universe. The first ship we all get, most of us can not wait to move on to bigger and better things. In our scramble to “level up” we end up ignoring the many variants of the EC and their unique capabilities.” In other words, VO has these ships, why not use them?
2. Different people have different ways of enjoying the game. Offering a variety of things to do helps widen VO’s player base, something VO desperately needs.
3. Bus wars are very popular but are usually organized on an ad hock basis. This provides a sort of “continuous bus war,” for those who are interested in such things. Those who are not interested are free to not participate.
4. If it proves useful in training and retaining new players it would have been worth the effort. If problems are found they can be addressed once we see first hand what they are.
5. I believe that the amount of effort to implement such a zone would be relatively small but I could be mistaken. So far as I see all that is needed is a set of the newbie turrets set to kill anything that is not of the EC class.
6. The other facets of the idea, new ores, a station, border skirmishes etc. are interesting but not vital. They could be added if the initial idea pans out
7. VO desperately needs content. This is an attempt to provide some new content.
8. It is only one sector. Players will still be using all the others so what is the harm in trying something different?

These threads annoy me. I want the devs to finish the things they're already working on so that they can continue on with the progression they've already explained to us. We've been delayed for years by diversions like these - time to buckle down and get it done.

Thankfully for us all, Whistler, we've yet to be delayed by any diversions quite like these.
