Revised Warthog Mineral Extractor

Apr 30, 2009 ChaoSnake link
The current stats of the warthog mineral extractor (WME) are as follows:
Licenses Required: -/-/-/-/2
Armor: 9100
Cargo: 24
Weapon Ports: 1S, 1L
Mass: 6000 kg
Length: 10 m
Thrust: 230 N
Max Speed: 65 m/s
Spin Torque: 7.0 Nm
Turbo Speed: 190 m/s
Turbo Energy: 50/s

My proposed changes are as follows:
Licenses Required: -/-/-/-/2
Armor: 8000 (1100 decrease)
Cargo: 28 (4 increase)
Weapon Ports: 1S, 1L
Mass: 7200 kg (1200 kg increase)
Length: 10 m
Thrust: 265 N (35 N increase)
Max Speed: 65 m/s
Spin Torque: 8.0 Nm (1.0 Nm increase)
Turbo Speed: 180 m/s (10 m/s decrease)
Turbo Energy: 54/s (4 increase)

For its current stats the WME is actually pretty crappy. The changes that i have proposed make the WME alot more desirable to players. I have changed it because the WME is priced around 38,000c and with these new changes, it would give you more bang for your buck (good quality for a reasonable price).

Please take this under revision

You have decreased the thrust/weight ratio, armor and top speed while adding drain. The net gain here is 4CU and a small amount of turn rate. It may handle slightly better with a full hold, but I don't think this is a more desirable ship overall.

This is my 2nd suggestion, my first one i learnt from. My last one was absolute SHIT. i thought i might give this one a whack :)

I'll second zak.wilson... I don't see what makes this new variant more desirable. Not to mention that your increase in weight has somewhat nerfed your increase in thrust.
I mean, what is the purpose of a mineral extractor? It needs its two ports so it can scan and then mine a roid. it needs cargo space so it can carry things back.
why does it need maneuverability? Are the roids you are mining really that close together? And if they are... can't you just go slower through them?
I feel like what a WME needs is speed and low drain, so it can outrun ratties (as soon the best roids will be in unprotected space).

I say bump up the cargo hold, bump up the max turbo (220m/s tops, probably 210m/s) and thrust a bit. Keep the mass where it is. Then lower your armor as you had, lower the spin torque and max (non-turbo) speed... and I think you have yourself a good mineral extractor.

Armor: 8000
Cargo: 30
Weapon Ports: 1S, 1L
Mass: 6000 kg
Length: 10 m
Thrust: 245 N
Max Speed: 55 m/s
Spin Torque: 6.0 Nm
Turbo Speed: 210 m/s
Turbo Energy: 50/s

This ship can't really catch up to anything, and the max non-turbo speed is too slow to make it useful for pirating. It's thrust is enough that it can move some decent cargo to the jump point if it recognizes an unfriendly at 3000m out. It's armor is too low and its torque is too low so that it would be nearly useless during combat. Presto: balanced. Call it an mkII and you have yourself a ship.
