The Mosquito
This ship is an in your face variant of the centurion.
Armor: 6000
Cargo: 0
Weapons: 1
Mass: 3000
Thrust: 218
Max Speed (forward): 78-80 m/s
Max Speed (reverse): 50 m/s
Turbo: 200 m/s
Drain: 48
Length: 7 m
Spin torque: 7.0 Nm
People with better balancing skills may suggest some tweaking to the numbers.
This ship has high forward speed for in your face action. You won't be calling anyone flying this ship a back roller though, cause they won't be backpedaling very fast! Not even the Corvult would be able to get out of range of this little monster. Able to take out a SCP if it can get below the safety range of flares, agile enough to still evade the agt fire. Its paper thin armor makes this ship an easy kill. IF you can swat it.

=O Awesome. Not sure how implementable the diff forward/back speeds are, though.
I like it.

hell no
I really don't understand why people would fly this or the Superlight when the IBG/RevC has far better loadout capabilities...

Because I 1) want to fly a single port light ship and 2) I want to undermine peoples ability to employ distance control.
1) Superlight
2) This won't make a difference, the faster you move forward the harder it becomes to strafe fast enough to dodge, translation you could have a ship with a forward top speed of 120 as soon as you start putting all your thrust in forwards motion you're going to chew on Neuts flares, Ect... its the whole point of distance controlling.

Hmmm. I am going to have to put some thought into your second point, considering my normal mode of combat is either full forward or dodge reverse. might improve my game a bit.
My goal is to get under the flare safety zone and wreak havok at extremely close range, say 50 m or so.

You've basically got uncontrolable forward movement--how the fuck are you going to stay in the zone to do anything?

As I said, I will have to put some thought into what Spidey said. I had been of the impression that my x & y strafes had the same thrust as my z. Could explain part of my combat mediocrity, since typically the only time I worry about distance is when I need to evade incoming fire or flares.
Um, isn't the cent already in your face enough?
I don't like this, but I can't say why. It must be because I hate those people who stay in my face all the time, since I like flares.
So, no.
Also, 'Mosquito' should be reserved to a 4s Raptor variant, with a grid of, let's say, 12 or 16 and the ports in close proximity to the dorsal axis of the ship.

I'd fly it. The main change I'd make is to get rid of the infiniboost - make it 210m/s with 55 drain or 220 with 50. What's the lateral speed?
Personally, I'd rather fly this version instead, for real.
