Changes to Grey space

OVERVIEW:
Add a base for the Order of Akan
Add a base for serco military operations
Add Order of Akan standing
Alter Corvus faction

Order of Akan:

The order of Akan which is a major part of the VO storyline should have a secret base in Grey space. This base should not be easy to find or get to. I would suggest it be located outside the normal shipping lanes and far away from any normal jump point in the sector. It should be at least 10,000 km or more from any area normally trafficked and require a major search to find. I would also suggest it be located in an asteroid and well hidden from any visual search. Simply knowing where the base is should not be enough to find it. It will also need a signpost of sorts to help guide pilots to the base. This signpost could be in the form of two hollow asteroids with a third blocking the wrong direction. One would need to find the first roid and then line themselves up with the second to determine the correct direction.

I also believe a location in latos would work well allowing the Akans to operate near the serco border and possibly attack any convoy or player leaving serco space. Any pilot not admired that comes too close to the base should be attacked by a very nasty strike force untill killed. Jumping should not stop the attack. Docking at the base should be limited to only Akan admired or better However station prices and services should be considerably cheaper then normal. Also those with a high corvus standing should also be excluded as this is not a pirate base.

I suspect there may be a treaty or understanding between Akan and the hive perhaps like a non-aggression pact. The hive should heavily use the sector where the Akan base is but not attack Akan admired or better. All other players the hive should attack very aggressively. Considering the direction some of the missions have been hinting at perhaps this sector could be a secret base for the hive overseers as well. Originally I thought Akan should patrol the sector their base was in but that would make their presence rather obvious. Using the hive as a deterrent to entering the sector makes a much more believable cover.

The Akan base should also be accompanied be the addition of a secret Akan faction not accessible to players. All serco players should be set as KOS forever. UIT who Kill mostly serco should be allowed to advance in standing but not to POS. Perhaps standing for UIT could be set as 0.2 x serco kills minus 5 x Itani kills and adjusted from there. Itani who gain standing with serco should lose standing with Akan...Gains in Corvus standing should also be considered as bad. Again this is not a pirate base. Piracy would draw too much attention to the Akan's presence and would be frowned on.

Serco base of operations:
The Serco know the Akans are out there and with all the attacks on shipping as well they would very likely establish a remote base of operations. This base would be limited to Serco military personnel in good standing only. The base should be located around the odia or sedina areas. The order of Akan will of course be greatly offended by the presence of the Sercos and attack the base like a hive skirmish with no cap ships on either side. The Sercos will of course want to patrol all of grey space looking for any Itani not admired.

In the long term I would also suggest that both Akan and Serco bases be destroyable through player action. They should also be automatically rebuilt once a week as well. I think some sort of regular skirmish should also be looked at.

Corvus Standing changes:
The Developers created corvus to act as a pirate base and function as a place where anyone could dock when there was no where else for them to go. The last resort nature of Corvus should not be changed HOWEVER as several players have pointed out certain parties should not be welcomed either. I would suggest Docking should be changed to allow anyone NOT neutral or better elsewhere to always be allowed to dock. This still guarantees a dock for all pilots but excludes most of the Corvus undesirables such as VPR etc. Corvus should also monitor all of Grey space and standing should be reduced for anyone who kills a Corvus admired or better. A Corvus Hated or KOS standing should also be allowed for anyone with an admired or better standing elsewhere. A Corvus KOS should provoke a double strike force and a Corvus Hated should trigger a regular strike force if the player enters Corvus space.

Corvus monitoring of Grey should be a bit spotty and unannounced in nature. Any death near a base will be seen but due to the limited ability of Corvus to monitor all of Grey there should be a decent chance for a kill to go unnoticed. This could either be done by pure chance or simply create a number of monitored areas and turn the monitoring on and off in some pattern.

Wow, the Akanese stuff is cool! Too bad I'm UIT who would neeevvvvveeerrrr kill Itani (except in NW). As to Corvus, I don't like corvus, so whatever you think to do to them is okay with me.

/me goes to hunt corvoys.

The Akanese belong in Pelatus, maybe Edras.

As a general matter, I'd like to see Corvus and Akanese stations fall off the map (and eventually get moved around).

I like the Corvus standing OR KOS everywhere else requirement for docking -- disagree, however, that Corvus should monitor all of Grey. All of Sedina/Odia/Bractus, yes. Sorry, random chance monitoring, like all other dice rolling, is lame.

I can go along with a constant corvus only monitor of sedina, odia and bractus. It certainly seems to make decent sense.

I am not sure if corvus should fall off the map - corvus is to a degree like a front company. The corporation is in fact legit, they just happen to also deal with the pirates as well.

I'd suggest Edras, though I've written up stuff for a wormhole from Jalilk. Doesn't make as much sense in hindsight.

Excellent suggestion that adds depth to the story of Grey- with the suggested alterations. I'm not crazy about the Serco / Itani conflict in Grey, unless you put some key resources in place that they are competing over. In which case, UIT factions should be competing as well both independently, and favoring one group or the other(with pure unadulterated self interest at stake)
