Pirate Game Innovations
Some changes to help the pirate trade:
* Heavy and Light XP for voy killing
* Cargo Scanner (build it into the corvus specialty ships)
* Different cargoes in each voy moth
* At least one valuable cargo in a voy moth
* Bounties

If we get some more energy efficient L-port weapons, I'd like to see the Greyhound lose its S-port and gain a cargo scanner. However, I think coding that and integrating it into the interface in a useful manner could be pretty tricky. I'd want the info displayed heads up, and probably for a little while--having to mash keys to see what's in the target, when steering into an efficient intercept vector, is not my idea of good piracy.
I think, however, that the only thing anyone needs XP for is killing the combat ships escorting a voy. Shooting moths and taurs is hardly challenging.
It would be good to see piracy ribbons for moths killed, etc. Someone proposed such a thing pretty seriously before--they had ribbons and everything. Ah, here we go: http://www.vendetta-online.com/x/msgboard/3/18726
