Tweak the UI around a bit
I have three suggestions on improving the station UI a little:
Easy: Rename "Commerce" tab to "Station".
Medium: Allow loading of cargo from "Welcome" tab, thus eliminating the need for load/unload tab
Hard: Add more UI to the bar, allowing individuals to exchange money, goods, and ships.

I think Commerce used to be "Station."
Heh, in that case there is just no way of pleasing some people.
To me, station makes more sense since it contains the bar.
Perhaps introducing other "locations" might help with that paradigm.

I have many more than three suggestions for improving the user interface. But, I think we should finish one thing before we move onto the next. (i.e. current economy and faction stuff.)
Sure, letting them finish what they are doing is sensible.
I meant this more for a general discussion than immediate implementation. There is indeed an infinite number of improvements they could make to station interface - 3D internals, shipyards, docks, player-owned structures in stations like bars, casinos, shops, factories, banks, hospitals, military headquarters, prostitutes, mining offices, black markets, bounty hunting companies, custom personal quarters, ...
I thought I would get the discussion started with something we could possibly see within 12 months though.

Whoa whoa whoa whoa there space cowboy...
I thought we were talking about moving tabs and buttons around to a more logical game interface?
(Although let's flesh out those bar, casino, and prostitute ideas...)
My first improvement: Get rid of the "Boooiningngng" sound every time you click a damn button in the interface.

Oh - YES - please no more Boooiningngng!
I wholeheartedly support the de-Boooiningngng-ing of the UI.

whoa prostitutes?

Well... they would have to be called entertainment androids to get into the game, but essentially, yes.
No more Boooiningngng is a good one.

I see where you'er going with the casinos and stuff, but I believe that's taking the space mmorpg out of Vendetta Online.
That would just put people in stations more, I want to interact with more people in space, not in the station.

The idea behind those would be to somehow tie it into having to go outside (e.g. smuggle new prostitutes in to continue with the old example), so there is actually more reason to go outside, and introduce more money sinks for the newly found riches. However I am NOT suggesting those yet, since the devs will not have the time to implement stuff like that in the next few years.
A button I could hold to unbind the mouse from my ship and to the UI would be cool. As in hold it, move your mouse up, click on something, let go and it snaps back to your targeting reticule.
That's an excellent idea, Xaander.
wait oh damn does that exist or something
I like the boing sounds... well, most of the time. Could we have an option to turn them on and off?
