Dr. Device
If you've read Orson Scott Card, you'll know why I'm mentioning this.
Dr. Device (Large Port)
Damage: 7000
Velocity: 45 m/s
Energy: 200/blast
Delay: 12s
Mass: 2500
Detonation Proximity: 12m
Splash: 150m
However, here's the idea:
When it hits the first ship, a sphere of effect goes out. If a second ship is in that sphere, it causes another 150m sphere and causes a chain reaction. However, the important thing is not to cause a loop of effect where it hits the first ship again and then the second and the first...
This weapon would be ideal for large groups, where this sort of weapon might be able to take out a cluster quickly and effectively. It cannot be over-used because of the energy cost and the large delay.
The requirements for using this device:
10/8/10/8/5
An eventual mission tree that eventually allows the device to be built (I was planning on making this tree soon(tm))
Veteran Hive Hunter 2
Hive Queen Hunter 2
Leviathan Hunter 2
100pk badge
Any comments would be extremely appreciated, this is a weapon whose requirements ought to balance its worth and disadvantages.

As far as weapons of mass destruction go it would be easier to just bring back Avalon torpedoes.
I'm flattered, really I am.
But no.
But no.
Ha ha ha...
No.
No.

Sorry no. Could you imagine somone using this in a Nation War or BS. Just like in Ender's Game no one should have this much power.

100 m/s. Not much excuse for being hit by one. The Sphere effect would be cool. Loved the Enders Game reference.
100 m/s with 30m prox?
Flares go 85 m/s with same prox, let me tell you, i hit people with them.

Hmm, and I thought a sphere of effect emanating from a ship was the result of eating too much textured vegetable protein.....
Right you are maq. I missed the 30 m prox stat.
Hmm... you're right, those stats might make it too easy.
Let's say... 45 m/s and 12m proximity?

Death Jr: even with those stats this will never happen. Sorry man
Heh, I didn't much expect it to... just wanted to put it out there for the heck of it.

Moron.
Moron.
Death Jr: Ender's game = cool, Vendetta = cool, transitive property doesn't apply here.
Dr. Lecter: Moron = mental age 8 - 12, Ender Wiggin = 8 - 12. See above.

Also, knowingly putting something completely pointless into the "Suggestions" forum--thereby cluttering it up and wasting everyone's time--is the very definition of moronic.

Don't mess with Lecter; he uses that moniker for a reason. Try to insult him, and he'll give you a Hannibal Lecture you'll never forget. Trust me, I've been on the receiving end before.
Now, legal quanderies aside, putting a MD Device in the game would be a bad idea. In Ender's very capable hands, such a weapon was capable of xenocide. Putting it into the unwashed hands of hundreds of newbies scarcely merits thinking about. It would get real old, real fast, and the fun would get sucked out of the game.

the stat balancing aside, I didn't pay a hell of a lot of attention to your exact numbers, a Dr. Device would be t3h shit. I'm a big fan of Enders Game and the sequels.
Yea, Ender is the Man! I suggest that what we really need is the telephonic interface that Ender uses to control the remote fleet. This is to say an excellent user interface for cap ships, and fleets of cap ships.
I am intrigued by the idea, but aside from the well-worn argument of it being destabilizing (which I 100% agree with)
Why would the device work?
What physical property of our vessels would allow a second sphere (etc) to be created? It doesn't sound like an energy-based lance that could hop targets, so...
(Maybe I'm failing to understand because I have never read Ender's Game).
