rework powergrid system
I was looking at www.vo-wiki.com and almost all the weapons except for the special high-end ones like widowmakers and ravens take 4 grid. The idea came to me after talking with people on 100 about how a rag had a hard time fitting weapons but its the only ship that seems to have this problem? My proposal, rework the energy grid fro different ships like smaller ships have less grid or the different stages of weapons have different grid amounts ie neut 1 has 4 neut2 5 and neut 3 6 or something like that. Because right now the power grid isn't even a factor for putting ships together.
While I would like a new energy-management system, I believe that such a system should replace/significantly enhance the current powergrid system. If more limits are put on the powergrid in its current form, it would seriously nerf many ships. The powergrid in its current form can be utilized to a greater extent when new ships/weapons are added to the game, but to modify current systems would wreak havoc.

I don't think it would nerf ships as badly as you think although it might cause for people to actually think about how they are going to set up their ship insted of just throwing the best of everything on there. There would also be an easy work around that would keep ships from being nerfed...just give them more power grid
define "the best of everything".
The current newtonian mass system does make people think. those that don't get splattered. If there were more variety of weapons, then we could distinguish weps based on mass and power grid, but at this point I think we've hit a good balance using the current system.

The point of the power grid is for future weapon/addon developments, to allow me to balance tradeoffs more easily. I explicitly did not make it apply to existing weapons, as I didn't want to degrade the existing gameplay.
thanks for making that clear incarnate its nice to know that the extra grid on a those light ships will come in handy
