you mean like giving your brand new alt character 100 million to get started with?

If it's your OWN alt character, Pa - SURE, hand the monies over. Why not? (I'm against having more than one char per paid account, but I've been massively overruled SO many times on that issue that I am loathe to bring it up again, so anyway...)

In fact, we should have automatic withdrawl, auto-payments, etc. Seriously, in this 45th century game we should be able to have online galactic-wide banking at last on par with what we have today in the measly 21st century.

Right now, we automatically deduct from player accoutns for storage limits and such. I would like to see my receipts and balance sheets for those, if you please. In either an ingame interface, or in BOTH an ingame and OOG/web-based interface.

I don't know what Incarnate is talking about with "both players had to be online to access their inventory (still true to some extent), and having them in the same sector was the most convenient to implement a transfer" and "Avoids race condition issues and stuff". Inc - you don't mean that credits are handled in the same way as cargo, do you?

I suppose I'm ignorant of how this might be abused/circumvented/hacked. That's the only reason that I can think of as to why this shouldn't be part of the economy roll-out.

I know what he meant leebs and it is a concern...programmer talk for a rather abusable circumstance....

Auto pay for rent is an idea but Is it worth delaying capships for a week while they create it?

I know i shouldn't talk about EVE, but their system works. You can buy/sell/trade money/ships/items from anywhere to anywhere. Yes you need a station for most transactions but credits flow to and from you while in space or off line.

I know this is to much to ask that our trade/economic system be similar to EVE's but someday i hope it will be.

For now being able to send money to any user, weather they were online or not would be helpful.

Okay, Pa. So at least we can safely say that the ONLY reason this hasn't been implemented is the fear of some ne'er-do-well using Lua or whatnot to give themselves 100 million billion credits.

I'd hate to think that the devs think the current state of affairs with /givemoney is remotely adequate for the new economy.

I'm happy to see such support abound for my suggestion. I have noticed that there is a resounding concern for various hacks and abuses of such a system. Is it not possible to do something very similar to the guild banking system in that a 'dummy' bank is in place and each /givemoney (out of sector) command is handled like a 'deposit' but tagged for withdrawal by only the recipient? We could even make it a play on Western Union such as /centralconfederate or /gmcv (givemoneycrossverse).

Heh, Breaz

But, aye, I agree with LeberMac. It's the 45th century, and we need a proper banking system. Money should be able to be transferred from anywhere/to anywhere, at any time, with balance sheets and suchlike. It would make everything (Guild banking issues, Slotbot, paying EMS, Slotbot, asking pirates for free passage, Slotbot) much easier. And much more convenient!

Up with Versewide Banking! (SlotBot)
