Joysticks

I think that a better joystick customization is in order. Take X-Plane for example. It lets you assign all of your joystick's buttons to ANY feature. here is a screenshot. You just press a button and select a control. It also works with my throttle. I just tried my JS with VO and it is annoying that I am stuck with the preprogramed stuff. http://img108.imageshack.us/my.php?image=picture2md7.png AND http://img145.imageshack.us/my.php?image=picture1xc4.png AND http://img232.imageshack.us/my.php?image=picture3wx7.png

THANKS FOR LISTENING!!!

Actually, you can go into Options -> Controls -> Keyboard, click on a particular function, and then press a joystick button you want used for that function.

Our control configuration system is not the most friendly or intuitive, but it is pretty powerful.

Are you using a single- or dual-stick setup?

I've only ever used single-stick setups with VO, so I don't know how it works with duals -- but your throttle should appear as a configurable axis in the joystick configuration menu.

Not sure what the problem is with your throttle; are you saying that it doesn't show up in your config.ini file at all? VO doesn't recognize digital axes so perhaps that's what's happening in your case.

As for configuration, if Options>Control>Keyboard is too limiting, try editing your ~/Vendetta/config.ini file where you can assign almost any command to any key. A list of commands is here:

http://www.vendetta-online.com/manual/app_commands.html

In addition, you are not limited to just these commands as you can assign any aliases you have added to VO as well; half the buttons on my joystick are mapped to aliases and not direct commands. Basically, any command can be mapped to any key in VO. Hope this helps. Cheers.

It would be nice if button functions could be assigned to axis... It really only is of use to gamepad users but it would help out alot.

For example being able to map accel to the digital pad up key and decell to the same down key....
