The new fog is cool. It would be cooler if it did dammage or at least strip armor away. Just my $.02.

It'd be cool right up to the point where people only waited for people to come along at 10% of their hull for an easy pk. We already have people waiting for others to jump in, no need to make their job easy.

If you did that, you'd have to add countermeasures such as on-board repair systems.
