Ransom Demand Letter
The pirates need a ransom demand letter popup. This letter would demand a certain amount of credits be handed over or the target ship would be destroyed. Agreeing to the letter would give the target ship imunity from the letter sender for a certain amount of time and deduct the asked for credits from the target and place them in the senders account. All this would be done by the computer. This popup could have several replys. Example: Ok Ill pay. I dont have the credits. Go to hell! or even a counter offer.
Nice idea but there are very few pirates in VO. They mostly just want to kill you :)
Thier are alot of pirates in the grey un-claimed systems. I thought of this letter after being asked for ransom at least once a day.
we hail you, effectively the same effect? Most hails contain words that somehow tells you to stop. Doing so ensures that you will not get killed right away. If you run, don't bother answering, we'll follow you and help you purchase a new ship.
Most pirates will grant immunity for a day when they have pirated you. But a lua majiggy that does it automatically and makes it easier to pay would be a cool thing indeed.

An old pirate's two cents: stop quickly and pay generously, or better yet, pay once I'm in range and you see me vectoring in on you. Make my life easy, and I'll never even scratch yer hull plates, even when I'm in a bad mood and looking for someone to rip up.

One of my biggest problems with killing people quickly and efficiently is that they can dodge and even dock before I manage to plan enough shots into their asses.
A nice popup on their screen would give me the time I need to get those last few shots in.

Ok pirates might like this idea. But i don't think there are a lot of real pirates in game now. Most just kill you and don't demand any money.
Would the trader be immune while the pop up is launched? I can see a situation where someone lets say in [THC] hails someone with a demand then just kills them while they are distracted. Anything that distracts the player i think is a bad idea.
And if genka likes it you know its a bad idea :)

Can you please define "alot"? I make trade runs through grey all the time. I've even had to WAIT in B-8 for pirates to come through Most of what I see in grey is either PA, TGFT, VPR or UPK.
