Just a thought. What if you could see the blue haze of an ion storm off in the distance from an adjacent sector?

I like that. It would be a cool look. But i think it would kill most of our computers :(

Localized fog is an issue isn't it? I don't think it would be possible (assuming it would be a bit of fog that stays out of reach in a certain direction), but it would be pretty awesome.

ion storms already make my comp go slower so I agreed with jestatis. It's a good idea though.

What I would like, is that the bases could get caught in an ion storm as well.

I'm not sure if this would be a solution, but in this case, couldn't the fog act like the background? Essentially, just a bit of blue haze over part of the background in the direction of the ion-storm?

I know that inc has been thinking about putting fog around roids. that would be cool. the problem with seeing the ion storm before you jump into the sector is you could always dodge them. not really what they intended. BUT, the backgrounds of EVE have clouds, nebulas, and other simple things going on. If they could put some stuff like that in the main background file, i dont think it would cause that much of an issue.

Off-Topic: do all ion storms have to be blue? how about some different colored storms? red, green, orange. you know what else id like to hit? a blackhole.

Well... if you could see them, which I agree would be cool, you'd be getting into intra-system navigation, i.e. if I were to fly straight out from one sector, I'd end up, eventually, in another. If I remember right, Inc has said he would like to do that.

And, Armonia, that's not true. Ion storms are meant to be a hazard. Hazard are there to annoy people, yes, but they're also there to be avoided. Give me any system to fly through, and I can dodge all the Ion storms.

EDIT: Unless one of the devs put an ion storm over a station or at a wormhole, but that's different.
