OK, what I'm suggesting here is a page on your PDA (separate or joined into another one, doesn't matter) that keeps track of the item information of the stations you've already visited. Now i know you might not want to make trading too easy, so price information doesn't need to be included, and realistically neither does all the items the station sells. If necessary, all you'd really have to include are the station's Want items, and maybe their Locally Produced items. It would save time and space in the mission notes sections of traders, as well as streamlining the decision process of finding destinations. It would still make experience with the game necessary as you would still have to go to every station that you wanted to track on it, so it wouldn't allow new players to get a leg up on the experienced ones. Just my thoughts, but it would allow new players to break into trading a little easier without hours of trial and error that I've been going through.

well upon further review...and seeing as i can't figure out how to use the mod, i think an integrated system would still work better, at least a stepping stone to newbies (like myself) who won't have to use 3rd party programs if they don't want to.

Just ask how to use plugins or better yet try the vo-wiki, if it's running properly.
