multiple missions
So using the search feature nothing came up for multiple missions so...
Being able to take on multiple missions kind of makes sense. I dont mean taking on a ridiculous amount of missions but for example...
There are probably more missions than what I listed that would go together.
Killing spree and The mission where you have to salvage parts from destroyed bots.
Escort and Procurment or delivery
Or, if you are escorting from Edras B-11 to Dau L-10, and there are convoys going to Dau L-11 and Dau K-10 why not escort all 3?
This would have certain pros and cons...pros, more money/faction points. Cons, probably a wee bit harder to defend a convoy three times larger than standard voys from pirates/bots.

If this hasn't been suggested before then we all fail as players... but completely agreed.
Escort and Procurement is an interesting idea... since the two might be considered mutually exclusive (fight v trader), but I get the point behind it.
I also think escorting more than one group at a time is problematic, unless the escort missions are smart enough to realize this is what you are doing so they all take the same route. Of course, the pay should be docked for the inconvenience of taking a slightly different route. And it would in fact be easier to defend escorts in groups... and the escort's auto-turrets will be that much more annoying to rats (this might be a problem as well).

"so they all take the same route"
Thats another thing, we as the convoys vetran pilots should be able to plot the course the voys take. It seems only logical that a big corp would not want to potentially lose money, ergo not sending voys through likely routes for ion storms.

Is that not the point of the auto turrets/escorts? To make life more interesting for the pirates? I think, however that the biggest problem the pirates would have is escorts, the auto turrets/trade ships seem to be a little bit dumb when it comes to evading, well anything.
It could also be incentive for group missions.

Ryan, if this thread gets us one thing, plotting the course of our convoy needs to be it.
Some simple command options to control a voy:
/voy stop - guess what, it stops the voy where it stands
/voy go - yeah you get this one.
/voy follow - the voy follows your current route and ship (within 500m)
/voy auto - the voy defaults to the route you initially set
This would allow players to set a course for an empty sector and have their voy follow. Such an action could be used to evade pirate attacks. Pirates would still populate the same choke-points and traders would still get caught there.
Oh, and multiple missions is an awesome idea (provided the missions fall into similar categories as mentioned by aticephyr).

I was thinking about that...I grouped Escorts and Procurements together because you get compat and trade points, 75 and 150 respectively...(on an escort where no combat occurs, which is most of them)...so, based on points recieved escort is more trade than fight.
But, yes...we really do need to have a way to set our convoy routes.

There is a reason for single missions.
Say, for example, I take Advanced Training, and then do an Escort Mission. If the escort lands in a Ion Storm, and I take out some of the bots, not only do I get brownie points from the escort, I'm also getting credit for Adv. Training.
Example # 2. I get two or three (or four or five) different trade missions to the same place, and then when I go to the one station, I get the payout from all of it.
The basic idea is that it would make it too easy. Plain and simple.
Maybe if you can think of a system that wouldn't make it too easy, it might end up being implemented... but I have a feeling such a thing would be very complicated.

It has been suggested before (really, almost anything has), but the thread is none the less valid for it. I'm very much in favor of implementing having multiple active missions. Among other things it would make the initial grind a bit shorter.
I do not think it would make it too easy; also, in the real world, accepting multiple shipments to the same location is what is being done if possible. Furthermore, the devs made it very clear that they are working on money sinks, so the financial aspect should not be as tragic. And I think most of us are agreed that it is not the player's ability to grind that makes her or him shine in the game but her or his innate abilities regarding tactical and strategic thinking as well as reflexes and spatial recognition.

@ Phish:
Just because missions COULD be taken at the same time doesn't mean some couldn't be mutually exclusive. No reason procs couldn't be simultaneous. No reason escorts couldn't be simultaneous. There is a reason adv training shouldn't be taken with other things... granted. I'm all for multiple missions, doesn't mean it needs to be an all or nothing thing though.

Hell you can already pretty much do multiple procuments. I myself, and I'm sure I'm not the only person to figure this one out...I take a procument job but, before I do I make a note of every thing they need, hop in an XC get as much as I can dock, take a new procument job and dock, rinse repeat as needed. Its just common sense, if you have the room/ability...do as much as you can as quick as you can.
Phish...I understand the concern and I personally dont think that multiple missions should apply to training mission but I agree with Toshiro, it is not the players ability to grind out missions but thier ability as pilots. For example, I am terrible at combat...does not matter if my licenses are 1/1/1, 9/9/9 or 20/20/20...even with the best most advanced weapons I will always be a lousy combat.

I still think this might make it a bit too easy... but I also get the feeling that in the future one or two missions may mutually acceptable. The reason I like it how it is, is it forces you to focus on one thing. If I'm going for a hive skirmish, I'm not looking for Xith at the same time. I could be, but I'd be doing on my own time.
If that doesn't work for you, what about this: Do we need that right now? After about 10/10/10/10/10, everything is simply extra. There isn't a whole lot of stuff that is "new" above that mark, and for most things, even lower, around 7 or 8. So in essence the whole point of the multiple missions is to make it easier for newbies, and help the older players get money faster. Hmm...
