Banning of camel cased usernames
After a small incident, I might suggest the banning of camel cased usernames (example: HuMuNgUs).
Unless you can come up with a spectacularly better example, this just seems silly and unjustified to me.
Preventing players from "cloning" other players:
Player
PIayer
With the current font, you can barely tell the diffrence in names, not to mention how much it messes with the current tab-complete system

Why not just use a better font?

Yes, but what about poor Sarah McLine, the ceramic lion? Will her name be forcefully reduced to the improper "Sarah Mcline"?
A better anti-spoofing solution:
Run all names through a registry filter that counts all characters in a given name as in their upper-case format. When creating an alt, run the entered name through the same filter, and cross-reference against all of the pre-existing registered names. If it comes up negative, then the alt creation goes through, else, if negative, the person making the alt is prompted to choose a different name.
Now, there are other ways to spoof names, using spaces and special characters, but we can burn those bridges as we come to them.

Just fix the font. sheesh.
If you can't be bothered to look and see what the text on the screen actually is, you deserve to get tricked.
End of discussion.

The issue isn't "camel-case" names, it's that the font that VO uses has several characters that look nearly identical at first glance -- the uppercase i (I), the lowercase L (l), and the numeral one (1).
What happened a few nights ago is that some people decided to use this "feature" of the VO font to impersonate another player. People got pissed off with it and decided that muting the (supposed in some cases) offender was the proper course of action. Nobody got muted, but Incarnate happened to be on and he booted people off the server. Unfortunately, he ended up booting the victim as well as the impersonators -- probably because of tab-complete.
The problem with your comment, Lecter, is that people who are innocent (in this case krilliner) become the victims of the stupidity of others -- not their own -- which is the intended effect of the impersonators.
I agree with Roda and slime. We need a better font.

Ha. In this case it appears that the stupidity involved was that of a Dev.
This happened 2-3 nights ago with ElvisClone777 also. Was pretty funny to me.
we should ban case altogether.
we should ban names. numbers are all we need.
No that's no good. I know people with a rare visual impairment where they only read the bottom half of characters. So to these people 3 and 5 would look the same, as would 6 8 and 0. This is not an acceptable solution because they should not have to look at the whole character.
Instead I propose translating everything into a few completely different characters. A-M goes to "H," N-Z goes to "{," and all others go to "@"
That is the only acceptable solution

Why would we even need that? There's only one player, the rest are bots, we all know that.
There is a player?... a real one?... live?... in here?...with us?...1110101000100?...
DESTROY ALL HUMANS!
