Repair Beams
(Pulled this out of an existing thread so it wouldn't get lost.)
Instead of repair guns why not repair beams like mining beams except that they repair ships instead of sucking ore. Could use a similar dynamic as well in terms of efficiency v. repair rate v. range (instead of heat v. extraction rate v. range). This would also help differentiate repairing from combat as a distinct activity and skill set (no more pew pew repairing).

The only problem that I see with this is that it might become too easy to repair.
I think that this would require more work on the beam graphics, since they are not optimized for targetting ships. It's a good idea, just not likely to appear real soon.
