while many of you don't have a problem with the quality of sounds in Vendetta. I personally think it's mediocre at best. So, after deciding to make my own sounds (considering I have a WEALTH of royalty free sounds for sci-fi stuff). I looked into the Vendetta folder to see if I could just overwrite the sounds. To my luck, there were no sounds only "packaged" data files (rlb's).

Is there any chance that we could get better sound effects? The ship sounds are just horrible.

Unfortunately, at the moment we can't override the sound effects used by the game, even with Lua -- otherwise that is what I would suggest.

In the meantime, the best plan is to wait for the devs to have free time to enable us to do so.

(In theory, you could also offer the sound effects you've to the devs for them to use, but you would have to sign away all IP rights to them in the process.)

they are royalty free sound effects so there would be no signing of IP rights because there are no IP rights :)

A tool to replace the sound effects or even putting the sound effects outside of the packaged rlb's would be great.

Or....

If the dev's could give me a tool to replace the sounds and test, I will release the sounds to them.

The basic 1980's sound effects really throw this game into the bargain bin.

Maybe you just have a slightly over-inflated opinion of your synthesizer noises. I mean, I had one of those gun-shaped keychains that went "pewpewpewpewpew" too, but I don't think it would do a better job than the sweet sounds VO has now.

Yes, the sounds are a bit dated to say the least. If you have scanned the recent posts from the devs, you know that all 4 of them are working on other major improvements at the moment. At some point I'm sure they will address the sound effects again and perhaps build in some tools.

If you were working over me, or some other vet, it would be funny - at least I would think so. You've been splattering yourself all over the newer players and it comes off a little too mean-spirited.

genka has had a negative effects on the forums for as long as i remember.

every post of his actually puzzles me more as to why his ip is not banned yet.

i'm not a violent person. in fact, as proof, i'd love to invite him to a free aikibudo class.

Anyway, the sound effects could use some work.

perhaps a simple hook like ui skins. if new specific files are there, use it. otherwise use the built-in ones.
