Dial the SF back in Deneb/GR to encourage battle

One of the complaints has always been there is not enough Serco/Itani interraction (battling).

One of the problems is that the SF bots in Deneb and GR are as bad as anywhere else. The SF bots are totally unrealistic to the ship capabilities of the rest of the game. For instance:

It takes just one, or at most 2 Aerna Seekers to kill a Sky Prom by exploding next to it. Yet the weapons that seekers drop aren't even worth collecting.

The rest of the SF is usally in "Vultures" -- not Corv Vults or Vulture Police Interceptors, but plain old vults. Yet they seem to have infini boost, can run almost any ship down, and can fire and still jump. Yet, a vult that a player can buy is NOT infini boost, can you cannot fire Neut mkII's and still jump.

The point of this post is to suggest dialing back the SF, both Serco and Itani, in Deneb and GR to give player vs player conflict a chance to foster, although IMHO it should be dialed back almost everywhere -- especially now that turrets are in place.

I disagree. If anything, the defense response on a border in conflict should be stronger.

I'm not sure where you got the idea that SF vults are infiniboost either- I routinely see them drop out of full speed briefly to build up more power. This point of view might be because I fly with them more often than flee them. They are just really expert turbo-tappers, and the basic vult has a drain of only 54.

A seeker explodes with the force of all of its rockets detonating on impact simultaneously. Our ships are not equipped to use them in the same fashion, but this does not make it unrealistic. What could be a more realistic space defense system than designing suicide robots?

PvP battle in Deneb is easily created by getting on system chat and calling out your foe. I haven't had this fail to work even once, when tried.

Deneb and Geira do not have turrets, either.

So what Aramarth is saying is that PVP in Deneb is consentual. I'm with Vardonx. The boarder should not be a safe place. Consider the Gera and Deneb more of a neutral zone, where Serco and Itani can engage without getting zapped by the darn SF.

Deneb is essentially going to become a grayspace warzone quite soon. I think that will resolve this issue.

I'll get to it after I finish up all this other.. faction.. stuff.

Vard must be seeing different SF than the rest of us see, because last time I checked the Strike Forces were more interested in repairing any damage they take than actually doing their job properly.

Why would anyone dial back (read: nerf) something that's already nerfed?

i think the sf response should be stronger but damnit, they should play by the same rules we do in regards to ship speed and power drain.

I guess you should leave IRC (or the docking bay) more often and fly a few combat patrols.

Regardless, it sounds like incarnate's idea will solve the issue.

I still believe to really encourage battle in deneb, the current universe needs to be modified so that from grey/uit space, the itani can get to deneb through a quicker route than the 10ish jumps needed, especially since an increase in wh defenses are going to make running through serco territory near impossible. im not suggesting sedina-->deneb, but maybe dau-->Eo or something closer?...

thats a whole new thread though, and its been mentioned several times...doesnt seem like incarnate really supports this idea anyway

I get the same impression that Inc isn't hot on the Deneb-Latos connection. Too darn bad - its a really good idea.

I like the latos/deneb connection suggestion as well.

Without it, it forces one to fly through a lot of systems (as previously noted) or have an alt left in G.R. (or Deneb) with no real purpose except being there for a fight....
