I guess I understand the whole 'mining station' thing, after all, I think I did that more then anyone else....
But hey, if you were to throw together a station with like 10 exit ports and no sf or nfz just so we can blow shit up at stations.. (Which is ABSURDLY fun. Exploring the little nooks and crannies of a station while engaged in combat is INTENSE. Check out odia 14-something for a good example of this.) It's like fighting in the deathstar trenches and it's a load of fun.
There's gotta be some way to include that as a combat situation while keeping it from being exploited. Either by simply having a large number of ports or perhaps when you have enough players ingame at once, one or two miners won't be that large of a threat.

Well, here's my general plan:
I've discussed elsewhere that I want to "expand" the usability of sector space. We use this tiny little fraction of it. So basically, I want an in-sector short-range "jump" system, combined with another layer of navigation to the Nav menu (this one showing the current sector). Various limitations on in-sector jumps apply and blah blah.
Anyway, then we can have *other* stations. I mean, we have the ability to have more than one station in a sector. This way we can have a major trade station with NFZ, and the like.. weird mining station off in the middle of nowhere, and the "Big Bob's Cheap Guns" station that appeals to people who want to blow a lot of stuff up and conveniently respawn nearby.
That kind of solves the major cases.. the trade nexus does not get swamped by people station-mining (or whatever), you guys can have your free-for-all off a few miles away at another station, etc etc.
But, it's probably going to be a couple of months before I can do this. It's actually fairly high priority for me, so I don't think a couple of months is unrealistic, but this will require a lot of Ray's time, and I currently have him doing more time-critical stuff.
So, for the moment, maybe we can just live with 500m Corvus NFZ and some kind of "Bing!" HUD warning.

Yeah, we can do that.
Inc, that is one of the greatest ideas for adding depth to the game that I have seen. It is truly no wonder that you guys are the devs and not we.
