Increased Radar Range
Basically this is for making capital class ships and possibly some (large) asteroids detectable on radar in excess of 5000m. With the huge size of the Heavy Assault Cruiser and Constellation it really seems as though your ship's radar would be able to detect them beyond 5,000m. Being able to detect a cap ship at ranges of say 10,000-20,000m would enable Capital ship battlefields to be significantly larger, allowing for powerful long ranged capital class weapons such as cap to cap missiles and artillery.
I like it... it also introduces a thought: why are sectors infinite? What if sectors were made to be some 100s of Km? Then we could travel one two the other without jumping, capships would be able to 'sneak' up on other capships, and people who afk turbo don't end up in the middle of nowhere...

Why would you intercept it? Just pop it with rails!
I think that just seeing the ships visually is enough, hmm? I don't think you can see those ships very far past 5 km. (I can't play right now, so I wouldn't know)
