the way to capture stations...

there was a game I played, dont remember the name. the station capture was great though. bsically you radio the station...

YOU= surrender!!!
STATION= lets see how you like our strike force!!!

anyways...if you beat all thier ships, the station was yours.

in VO we can message bots, SF, Cappies so how about stations as a means to take them? just up the number of strike force...(idk, 20?) and maybe call in a cappie so it would require a gruop to take a station

I think the game you're speaking of is Escape Velocity. Otherwise, it was a game with the same concept. It was awesome. However, VO is different and isn't single-player. It would be more complicated. I think some form of station conquest/ownership will eventually be implemented. I'm sure the devs have a plan.

I'd rather have station building than capturing.

It's sad that we can't sit out at 3000 m with a quadrail hornet and message the station guards:
"Give me 1 million credits or I depressurize the crew quarters. You have 60 seconds."

I have some notes on capship/station conquest, that would probably work the same for both. Basically you'd have to destroy all the defenses (turrets/strike forces), and then have a limited timeframe to dock with some behemoths that carry "boarding parties" or some such. It would function like a piece of cargo, essentially. Then the boarding party would have to fight it out with whatever "defensive forces" the station had. Different boarding/defensive things could be acquired with different strengths and so on, and then would use probabilities to see who wins. Kind of like storming ships in umm.. "Pirates!" or "Port Royale 2" or something like that. So multiple boarding ships might be needed to try and take a well-defended station.

Anyway, it's a little hokey, but that's what I was aiming for. At least, until we have an awesome FPS interface and you all can actually *be* the boarding party, which is.. not coming in the short term, heh.

The way you picture it, Incarnate, is how I'd imagine it, too.

More in-depth daydreaming:

You'd have moths, full of players, with a certain amount of 'marine body frames'. Once the moths dock with the station/capital ship, players can take a 'marine body frame' and go lootin&shootin until either all internal defenses and forces are defeated or until the boarding party runs out of 'frames' (the Behemoth stays docked, to get back, the party needs to undock and return to where you left your/a ship, or be destroyed/self-destruct, to be relocated automatically).

'Body Frames' are much like ships in space, your personality is uploaded to a 'buffer'. There are perhaps three types of frames: "Soldier", "Demolitions Expert" and "Medic". Predefined equipment, non-replaceable (you cannot pick up other weapons. Let's say they are hard-wired to your chassis).

this would be a great use for the heavy Moth
