Attacked in own space/no weapons but still warned about fire zone

I only had mining equipment on me but was rammed multiple times by UIT vessel in Itani space. I was warned to cease fire or be attacked by station guards. Its a little too black and white with this issue. Its one thing if i have weapons to shoot off(and use). Maybe be able to hail station guards for assistance when in own territory. Maybe ask for minimum distance restraining order while in that sector for that one instance. Im all for rivalry and fighting and all the rest, but for me to mind my own business and still be called out by the authorities is plain silly.

Then don't ram ships in the NFZ, idiot. Those zippy NPCs were just flying so fast and so thick, you couldn't stay out of their way? I call BS.

If I correctly understand how the faction rules are set up, then in a situation where two ships collide in the No Fire Zone, then damage is first assessed against the faster moving ship & then against the slower moving ship. If you are in the slower moving ship, then you caused damage to the other ship first & therefor are the aggressor.

Please accept that I make no defence of these rules. It is merely my observation that you can reasonably expect to be judged the aggressor in this situation and can expect to loose faction standing as a result of it in proportion to the standing of the other ship.

Naw, ramming ships just gives you a warning, said ship may fire back (and his buddies might) but the warning is just that, a warning.

You did not lose any faction points, so hum, whatever.

just laugh it off...I was heading into a Serco station at full throttle, pirate on my tail...I run into a severly damaged SF pilot, and BOOM!!! he dies and I'm instant Serco Kill on Sight...so it goes

That is a little different though Ryan. Not much else to do in your case, is there? But in all honesty, the whole defense systems is laughable.

Yes. The station guards and strike forces are laughable. Unless you actively attempt to engage them or stay in-sector, they are easy to avoid or get away from.

The current faction standing system needs work as well. There's a gigantic thread on it somewhere...
Oh yeah it's in the station interface thread...

Oh here's the faction standing discussion

Mebbe I should repost those screenie things from the 1st thread. Gotta pull 'em off the old Mac.

I don't think being rammed by an NPC, no matter how pathetic your piloting skills are, should result in it being your fault. This seems to be a flaw across the board in regards to actions by NPCs. If a player rams you, it's their fault. If an NPC rams you, it's your fault.

You've tested this?

Actually Gavan, in a collision situation, BOTH parties get a warning (kind of pointless wanring an NPC) but the biggest point is this

YOU DO NOT LOSE FACTION OR HAVE ANY BAD SIDE EFFECTS BESIDES MAYBE BEING SHOT AT BY RAMMING SOMETHING, EVEN IF YOU RAM IT TO DEATH.

I have ram killed many an AFK, but POS miner, without a single faction point being lost by wing bugging them. A strikeforce will launch if I ram something to death inside a NFZ, but not if I just ram it. I have rammed strike forces to death also, so there is no way ryan got perma KOS by ramming into a station guard, just TEMP KOS. (unless he shot it)

This thread is funny. Its like none of ya'll know how the game works :P I agree with points brought up about the SF + faction system needing work, but hell, the OP is talking about getting a warning *SOSO is under Itani Protection, Cease fire or you will be penalised* Well, you aint firing... ...So its safe to ignore, right?

Um, I think I have. I have this problem whereas, I... well... the only time I actually test stuff is when I'm drunk, so the results are understandable.

That said, I'd say during my 3-4 years here i've been sober maybe... 40% of my ingame time? And during that time yes, I've noticed that when some player rams you, apart from what the little green chav just said, you'll get no warning. But when an NPC rams you, you'll get the warning.

That said again... he does play waaaaaaaaaaay more than me. So. Maybe his drunken master is better than mine. He's also a brit, so they do good at drunk. Us Canucks are only just learning the ways of the royal drunken style.

On a side note... I challenge you Yoda to a Canuckistanian drinking contest! Only thing is you gotta come to the west coast. Right to where the coastal mountains meet the water's edge...

heh. Lightweights.

On another note, I can still kill people inside NFZ's and I never get a faction hit. Why is that?

Is your faction standing already -1000? Somehow I doubt it can go more. *shrugs*

You're just magic, Leber. End of story.
