Simple guilfds.
hehehehe, guilFds...my typeing strikes again.
I would like to see the guild process get started with a very simple implementation.
My vision of it is console commands...
/createguild <guildname> //creates a guild
/addmember <name> //invites a player
/joinguild <guildname> //accepts an invitation
/settag <tag> //guildmaster only command, sts guild name
/listmembers <guild>
Creating a guild could cost like, 10 million, or whatever.
All joining a guild does is add the guildtag to the end of your name in white.
example
Homestar Runner [EiG]
[EiG] would be in white.
-homestar "fearmyguilfd" runner

It doesn't give members FF off?
No, just a way for us to form groups in our community without changing character names to show affiliations.
Why should it cost anything to create a guild? That's not the WISEST idea I've seen in. ;) What "problem" are you trying to "solve" by making it cost money to make/create a guild?
It keeps people from changing guilds every 5seconds.
And this is bad WHY?
Ideally, people would be added to a guild by someone who is already a guild leader.
Making new guilds cost some money is perhaps a good idea to prevent namespace rot.

Don't forget password protection.
So, i pay 10 million for:
A different color name
...
I'll pass thank you.

sui,
I rather think you pay 10 mill to reserve the name of the Guild. After that you can freely add and boot players as you see fit.
With you I mean the CEO as put in homestars explanation. So the person that created the guild or second in command or ... I think you see where Im heading.
cheers

I still don't see why it should cost anything to create a guild... I don't see the "problem" that it's trying to solve...
It is not to really solve a "problem". It is just to make a little prerequisit on starting a guild, not that everyone who feels like it can start one.
For instance, today I start the guild RRR , but tomorrow, I dont feel that well anymre and thats why I start the BIN one, and the day after , lets try the RBG one and so on untill infinity. This would clutter a lot of viable space with unnecessary tags ;)
cheers

I think that with in game guilds we would see many guild wars, and alliances. These things added a LOT of player interaction to Ultima Online almost overnight (98/99). Even before the stones, players showed affiliations through wearing certin clothes and colors. The vendetta players do not have that option.
Lets say you decided to form a guild named, say [MiM], and some newbie already created the guild with that name, you would be frusterated. Imagine the newbie didnt even play anymore, and just created the guild messing around. Thats why guilds should cost some amount of money, even if its 100k.

Admins shouldnt have a say in a strictly player affair.
Also, guilds that don't get "renewed" every, say, month for some trivial price are deleted. That way no one creates a guild then deletes the char. Oh, and if the guild leader's char is deleted or the rest of the guild decides to, a new leader gets picked. If the entire guild's characters are deleted or they all remove themselves from the guild, it is deleted.
I think rather than a hefty price for guilds, you need to put a petition up in front of a board (the Admins) and have them okay it. Once the final edition of the game is out I guess an actual registration fee (with real money) would come into play.
