Random Improvements Ideas
Well where to start out. This is an awsome game, but it still can be alot better. I say the weapons on the ship should be visible when your out in space and firing the weapon. There should be a slot for secondary items like shields or other stuff. There should be some type of hyperdrive that allows (once able to use) you to jump twice as far than a normal wormhole. Of course maybe you cant use it till you have the necessary energy to complete the jump so newbs cant use it. Oh and when you have to jump to another sector, you have to go out to 3000m from anything to jump, yet when you "land" in the next sector, your not 3000m away from everything. That is a problem and should be fixed. Another thing is that when you use a wormhole you have to have a full power bar to jump. Well when you start out your bar is only 250 and doesnt take that long to fill up, but when you have the 500 one it takes alot longer, if it only takes 250 for one guy to jump through the wormhole, shouldnt it always take just 250? Thats all I can think of at the moment, but im sure there is more. Post your ideas or comments on what I said.
i agree with the jump part especially. just "the bar must be full" is a little lame. energy requirements for jumps should be based on engine type and mass... a good game (although from microsoft) that i think vendetta-online could learn allot from is freelancer. The way that game solves some of the problems is really cool. in particular the ship and ship advancements...

read the forever hero series for capaciter jumps and seriously just enjoy...
Wormholes are useful because they collect players in a few sectors. Otherwise the universe is too big and lonely. Limitations on jumping mean that players actually can engage each other.
Ok I understand where your coming from about the wormholes but for players to engage eachother would mean opposing nations and that never happens. So that just contradicts yourself. Besides the hyperdrive can only work near a wormhole, thus you can still have that engagement, just it goes to a wormhole one system farther away. Of course the hyperdrive would require extensive skill to use, thus you cant use right away. Lets say combat license would have to be at 10. (assuming that new ships are made and other stuff)

think of it this way... there is a mini reactor that fills your powercell... it acts as a capacitor. your ship requires a certain percentage of stored energy to dump into an in system jump. but to make a longer jump through the wormholes you need a full capacitor. the size of the powercell/capacitor makes no difference its the percentage of stored energy that comes into play. think of this as well. the gravometric forces involved in a wh are incredible, would you want an active reactor operating and possibly getting ripped apart or would you like a stable capacitor to provide the energy requirements for your jump... ok i think i've added enough weird and stressful ideas for your tiny mind. remember its a game... enjoy
no I dont want to look at it that way. I like my idea better
your idea doesn't fit the universe go make another one
Your idea doesnt fit. My idea makes sense. you go make your own. Dont tell me what to do. so frak off.
Stop it!

havoc read some good scifi you are lost lil child. no wonder you're only dreams.
Holy crap! People have different ideas, get used to it guys.
Firstly, the "hyperdrive"... how would you get something that does double the difference... especially since the idea of a wormhole is a sort of a fold in a line. If you're trying to get from point A to point B, you usually go in a straight line through point C. If you fold that line on point C, you'll then have a no-distance line between A and B. So the idea of going double makes no logistical sense.
Say we forget that though, how would that happen? You go two wormholes, skip a system? Or... what? Twas a little confusing.
Secondly, about the jump distance. It's like throwing a baseball. You can't throw it very far if there's a wall right behind me. You need to be a ways a way, say three feet. However, you can *catch* the base ball an inch from the wall. Similar idea.
Thirdly, the whole "full power bar" thing is slightly odd, but, you can't just attach a number on to it. For example, the basic core recharges at 38/sec, but the Heavy core, 45/sec, so to get to "250" would take less time for the Heavy core. Also, you could think of it as the power core having to exert X amount of energy per 100% stored. So, the core can only initate a jump if the power core doesn't have to exert any or little energy, just to keep itself running. Whole thing is odd, but it works.
