Be able to designate a wingman
Have a command (or UI element) to designate a player as your wingman.
This would make the player's ship be a different color dot on the radar. It would work regardless if you were grouped or not.
The reason for this is simple. A lot of times you are in a large group but want to stay in formation with a particular player's ship.
Currently this is hard to manage if you're fighting in a large battle.

Seconded
Thirded.
As long as the wingman can "accept/decline" with default being decline. Otherwise it's an awesome targeter.

fouthed.
Excellent idea Leber, I hadn't thought of that...
A pilot should be able to designate any radar target as they wish. The wingman use for this feature would be especially helpful. It might be nice to use a special designator for certain skilled opponents too - a makefriends tool with special radar symbols.
I agree with the consensus here: Definitely a good idea.
I'd also agree with Missioncreek2 when he says that a pilot should be able to designate any radar target they wish.
Building on that, what about a direct link with other grouped pilots (or maybe just a single wingman) that shares target information (essentially, allowing two enemies to be tracked at once (one by Pilot A, one by Pilot B)).
The target data could then be used to make tactical and strategic decisions. The Wingman's Target would be surrounded with a different color circle on radar than the player's target lock.

yeah, just give it an interface with a button you can press to bring up that color palette .
