Advertisement Suggestions
As an interested player and member of the VO Universe, I'm relatively interested in the advancement of this game as a whole, and the devs have been talking about advertising for a while now, so I propose to start a thread where we players can contribute by suggesting sites, magazines and other media where advertisements for VO would get the most interest.
Being a fan of Apple, my first suggestion would be MacWorld. I just got my August edition today and there was an ad for Xplane9, so I don't think it too far-fetched to suggest at least a small ad, or perhaps even a full-pager.
(Someone good with graphics could probably get some hi-res screenshots or ad concepts together as well...they could be posted in this thread.)

Soon.
I imagine advertising in MacWorld is kind of costly. We're going to be doing as much "free" and "co-marketing promotion" stuff as we can. Ie, partnering with sites to offer deals, doing general gaming-press PR stuff like interviews and so on.
We do actually have some contacts at MacWorld, though. They gave us a four-mouse review when we launched. I was hoping we could get them to do another piece when we hit 2.0, but that'll be awhile yet.
Anyway, I'm all for input and ideas on marketing. FYI: we should be having a promo this weekend.

No kidding it's expensive...like this.
Yyyeah. That's a little out of our current price range ;).
I've been thinking about this for a while as well. I would recommend you try talking to someone over at Xfire to see if you couldn't get some kind of event set up with them. I would imagine that this would be somewhere along the lines of having Vendetta-Online advertised on the user's client in the ad area (which relate mainly to videogames and upcoming Xfire events), as well as having a live chat with players who wish to join in.
I would imagine that there would be no cost for a developer, since Xfire is a free program itself, and just about the only thing that would really have to be done is to get Xfire to recognise players ingame in Vendetta, which is really mostly done by the Xfire developers once they've had a chance to play the game themselves. Not to mention that I've seen a ton of free to play games have events managed through Xfire, which seem to have been pretty successful.
This would be a great way to reach a large number of gamers from different genres of gaming, and if nothing else, you'd get many people to recognise the game and try it out, and perhaps some who would like to stay. Plus, I'd love to have Xfire working ingame for Vendetta.

InsideMacGames may not have the same amount of page hits, but they *say* their advertisement prices are very low (to further mac gaming, as they say). No rates on their website, as far as I could see, though.

Yep. I wonder who would be able to develop advertising and marketing campaigns for the developers. Hrmmm... Someone who knows the game well, has a strong background in advertising, design, and marketing...
Yeah, I'm stumped, too.

You're such a sell-out, Leebs.
dont be too hard on him. it's his birthday today.
i dont know why you just dont do free advertising. On mmorpg.com all you have to do is send each news update to the people there and they will post the information free.
*note* if people uploaded their own pictures to the MMORPG.com website or even guild more people would check out the game easy. Its a proven success.
