Cap and money and big birds
To be honest. IMHO it really sucks to get 1Million Bucks for doing nothing when a team-lad captures the enemy flag. This just killed my characcters work. I started new and hardly worked some 20k of creds for me as i suddently saw 1000000 creds flying in.
Why did I work? I did nothing for the Capture thing.
I think 100000 bucks would be enough and a nice bonus for the one who captured the flag.
Next is, with the prom U got a real whale. Why not installing corvettes and other really fat ships? Really expensive, hard to kill and cargo like nothing. It would be fun to attack such a big baddy ship. Perhaps a cost of 1Million here would be fair. Some Gatling turrets with autofire (perhaps 2 in every direction) and U need to rest to repair your ship and to repair hull perhaps U may use that metal-scrap from the ships you shot or something. Cargo must be shipped by small ships perhaps. Or there would be some way to dock on a station.

Why are there no corvettes and the like? Makeing ship models takes time to make, especially that quality and size of ship. Also, the physics for that size of ship is all buggered up.
They have to compensate you for the amount of money you are going to spend on getting the flag. That and they need to give you some incentive to go up against those uber-bots and turrets in the home sectors. 1,000,000 is a good number, remember, a lot of the vets have scads of money. They wipe their asses with 100,000 credit notes. They need something in the neighborhood of a million to encourage them to help in a capping. Besides, if the people that were being capped decided to take the fight to your home sector, you sure as hell did something for the capping effort, you nearly got killed. So be happy. Besides, flag-capping will go the way of the dodo once missions and moving capital ships are introduced.

Add CM into the mix to mine the flag, it's really hard.
Add Cyberseally into the mix to rocket ram people, it's very hard.
Add Whistler into the mix to swarmer spam people, it's almost impossible.
Add random n00bs to hide behind the defenses and shoot and cry it's pretty much impossible.

Yeah, capping IS hard with 2+ defenders online.
Hmm, well i tried capping with a ragnarok bomber 2 swamie launchers and 3 Gaus. I flamed 3 Bot ships before they were in shooting range with my missiles and got another down with my cannons then i died. Multiply this with perhaps four and the bots are no matches. More interesting are player defenders. I admitt i could not get through bots and players alone. But in a group i think it would do...

Well, a single person can take care of all the bots, that's not the trouble. It's the quick-respawn turrets. You need to nuke ALL of them (which is a lot of nukes (4 per turret)), then you have <5 minutes to kill all player defenses and grab the flag. Darn near impossible, especially since the Flag Defense Turrets (not the station, the flag) are down to a 2-minute respawn (or so my testing yesterday showed).
