Two Capping Ideas.

Jul 02, 2003 Buckaroo link
Right now, capping is either easy (3 players capping one nation when noone is around) or impossible (one or two competent players defending the flag) - which is quite a game of chance. Either cap when noone is around or don't cap.

So - two suggestions to fix this problem an make capping more enjoyable an realistic:

1.) (Thanks to Lin - it was her idea): when noone on the team is around, the flag should disappear - so noone could take advantage of the fact that no human player defends.

2.) To make capping possible when human players are around: the more human players are around, the less defense bots should stay "active". Ideally, when two teams are balanced (approx the same number of players or the total of score of all players is equal) both defense bots should be totally inactive - they shouldn't vanish, they just should stay around and do nothing. This should make *real* battle for flags possible, since no bots will interfer.

Both suggestion combined would make capping being fun again - you coudln't cap a nation with no human players on and you should combat against *real* players instead of having to deal with super-bots.

(Yes, I know, that capping will be gone in the final game - but the 1 Million credit award ist too much right now, when no human players are around)

What if the only human players around happen to be n00bs? They won't defend the flag very well.
Besides, another reason the bots were there were to protect n00bs from pirates and assholes who go in and try to kill them.
