Multi-button mouse support under OS X

Now, I'm not talking two buttons here. I use a Logitech MX518 for my computer use and especially gaming, for the usability (hoping to switch to a Cyber Snipa (sic) Stinger soon, though).

Now, Vendetta has great support under OS X for mice with up to three buttons plus a wheel (with the wheel being the middle button, obviously). Beyond that, there is nothing. I tried using USB Overdrive under Leopard, only to find out that it apparently does not work in VO (which is not entirely bad, since the keystroke event send thing did not really work out the way intended).

So, I suggest that, if it's at all possible, mouse buttons to a number of up to 8 be recognized as mappable in the VO wgaf.cfg file (maybe labeling them MBUTTON#) under OS X. I really like to o asmuch as possible without moving my hands whilst playing, and the using of zoom and turbo without having to move the fingers of my left hand at all would be great, for example.

Does anyone else see this the way I do?

On a sidenote: Joystick and Controller button support could be added to that, too. Shouldn't it be somewhat easy using Apple's HID thingy?

Edit:

Yes, it works for me, too, now that I have USB Overdrive use the fourth and fifth button as exactly that, and send event to vendettaclient.app instead of Vendetta.app. Thanks a bunch, Aramarth.

Apologies for the commotion, I guess this thread can be saged.

I actually use the exact same mouse as you, in leopard, with overdrive. I currently utilize 5 buttons on my mouse. The two main buttons for group-specific triggers, the middle button for either ff toggle or aa toggle (depending on who are what I'm fighting), and the two forward/back buttons for vertical strafing.

Or maybe you mean 3+the two main buttons?

I meant indeed the forward and back buttons on the MX518, but my point is that it would be nice if VO supported the buttons out of the box, so to speak, which should be possible with Apple's Hardware. It would not require workarounds like USB Overdrive.

I have a Kensington 5-button, and they all work...
Try binding XMBUTTON1 and XMBUTTON2
