I am suggesting that we make a Roleplaying ONLY channel. Maybe 300? This is no problem I know, merely type /join 300.

The suggestion is for the developers to make sure in the tutorial missions that the channel is mentioned as precisely this. This could maybe solve some of the present flame problems....

Mirroring what I said in the RP forum's version of this thread, and adding something to it:

The reasons nobody ever used 300 when it was 'announced' as the RP channel were because it became a hassle to continuously /join 300 and /join 100 to keep chatting with everyone, and because of the 'circular logic is circular' argument, "nobody else uses it, why should I?"

Moda suggested something on IRC about changing the Lua SendChat() function to allow a third argument when using channel chat that would specify a channel to send the message to, e.g:

SendChat("your message here", "CHANNEL", 300)

Omitting the channel ID (the third argument) would just send the message to the current 'active' channel, perhaps.

there's already a way to quickly change channels:
/300 whee blah

Pressing space after /300 is a virtual <Enter> and will auto-join you to 300 and then clear the text input line.
