Player personal station
Ok now this might sound crazy but i gata put it out there. i have a thought of a player having their own miniturized Space Station, that they can place in a area of personal intrest to the player. not every player could get one of course, you can place them at a high price or you need to have exleast to have paid a 12 month of game play,or you woud need to have a very important medal, or all three. these Space Stations would take a very, very long time to create also so a player is not tempted to make one EVERY 5 min or they wont place one on a whim. the player is limited to one station and it could only serve the porpuse of storing ships, being of a place of intrest, and storing stuff.
Note: another idea would be to let the player to fly to other factions and stations and to buy licences from them, not like lvl licence but licences to build space Craft, weapons, mining beams, power sells, and some small ammount of consumer goods,
Note #2:maybe let the player get rent a bots- bots that would gaurd thier station, they would need to pay dearly for them but they would do all the work a regular station gaurd wouls do.
Note #3:And if the player is powerful enugh he could perchase him own miners, and traders to live at his station so the station would have active commerce.
Like i said this is extremely crazy, but i would like you to think about it. and tell me of you have any ideas that i have not thought of, i would love to hear them.

nah player owned stations ain't worth it
being able to to buy station parts like real estate might be cool

I think it would be kinda cool to have your own station, however it might be difficult to have them because of the amount of players there are, even if less than half the players of the game had them there would still be a couple of stations in every sector which would be a problem, and getting confused between a game station and a player station would be annoying.
Hi, we're still working towards player owned stations. We also intend to make better use of the real-estate within sectors (intra-sector jumps and such, I mention them elsewhere). I imagine them as being difficult to acquire and somewhat involved to maintain.
Whistler...be honest, when you played dungeons and dragons or what ever RP pen and paper game you play, you were one of those people who memorized the entire collection of books werent you?

I just read the list in the READ FIRST thread. I've been around a few years and can the recall frequently-repeated topics. The size of the station doesn't seem so innovative that previous discussions are moot. His post would have been an interesting addendum to the prior discussions. He asked for other ideas, and I directed him to a repository of them. Others were actually hard on the OP - whereas I just pointed him to previous work.

geussing that a person who plays an MMO also plays Dungeons and Dregons isnt a "Thinly-Veiled Insult" just a likely conclusion. I did work it with a some what sarcastic feeling...just goes to show the net doesnt translate sarcasam well.

ok...calling some one a lawyer is low...but to clarify, one of my friends in the states plays D&D and referd to some one as a "rules lawyer"...i figured youd get the refference.
anyways i still think its a cool idea...

1 docking port
hanger with room for 5-10 ships
AI crew for turrets (player can over ride)
2 AI "strike force pilots"
1/10th the armor of a full size station
10,000-50,000 CU storage
or something like that...maybe even slow thrusters...(5-25 mps)
anyways i still think its a cool idea...

Please forgive me for the eve reference here... I think that POS is a great idea in this game, can add a whole new element. I would suggest the idea of making a station completely destructible, but like eve, a reinforced mode would be great. You have to have x type of ore in the station hanger, and it will last for y amount of time, that way the player/guild will have a chance to come back in and defend it, and if they loose, boom!
