Temporary FF fix

Apr 29, 2008 Aramarth link
For purposes of player events, I propose a temporary fix to the Friendly Fire issue.

Designate three sectors, one in Latos, Sedina, and Edras. These three sectors should not fall within the default jump path of pilots. These sectors should have small, dark asteroids (the best kind for PvP activity, while not packed too dense or large enough to cause lag). They should not have bots. Within these three sectors, disable friendly fire restrictions.

This will enable players to, whenever they so choose, fight without the restriction. It will also, given the criteria I mentioned above, not endanger anyone who does not choose to go there on purpose. I will be scouting these systems for suitable sectors to post here over the next few minutes.

Edras L-8 or M-8 would do nicely. Latos D-1 is suitable. And lastly, Sedina B-12 fits the bill. These sectors are off the main drag, easy on the eyes, and yield nice high framerates.

In all of the above sectors, the bots would need to be barred. There is no need to block ion storms, as there are multiple sectors to choose from.

I approve of this suggestion. It should be implemented as soon as possible.

I like the idea, like you say, it would not effect the normal day to day players who don't want FF removed. I would rather that FF was just removed. I know this brings other factors into play (newbs killing newbs at stations and getting KOS'ed) but really, its not like folk do not fly into other nations spaces to blast newbs.

Be fun to have this and then move NW into those sectors....

Good idea, but I expect it would be too hard to implement to happen any time soon.

If they remove FF protection as they said they "planned" to, for years now, I will probably sub again to check it out.

meh. A kludge. Nothing more.

A real fix would be nice as opposed to a kludge based game.

*opinion about the suggestion, not the game. Well, sort of. But I've ranted enough about the game for eons now*
