New defenses
While I like the idea of having a far tougher time capping the flag, and indeed the incentive to do so in the form of a huge bundle of money I think they need alot of work done to them.
At the moment capping a flag involves two players going into the two nation sectors and distracting the bots by using their overzealous tendenacy to chase things. Any other type of attempt requires a massive number of players to be on to force their way into the nations home sector, and if there are any reasonable players on you can forget about getting that flag more than 500m away from its spawn.
What I had in mind was severely downsizing the NPC defenses and alterting their behaviour somewhat. Limit the NPCs will to burn after a single target for 30 minutes, make them get bored and retarget something else after a handful of minutes chasing, this will prevent any single person from occupying an entire sectors mobile defenses for the duration of the cap attempt.
Another possibility I thought was interesting was to have a nation defense fund where players are required to pay for their nations defense, for every destroyed NPC ship a replacement drawns money from the pool, once empty, no replacements will be supplied. Although that may be overcomplicating things yet again.
Hows about upping the respawn time for defense fighters, those that dock because theyre damaged fine, 15 seconds at the most before they reappear, but I dont like the way that these, probably quite expensive, ships are replaced as if they were spent sunflares. To my view it looks like they pack nicer equipment than regular players have so shouldn't they cost somewhat more?
Don't know if any of that made sense or a point, but after boost tapping in circles for what seemed like hours you find your mind starts to wander a bit.

Oh, and BTW, How much armor do the hvy defense bots have? I emptied 12 flares into one without getting a kill...
